** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

I got a bargin for my setup at that time (last year) . I'm still very pleased with performace thats why I never went C2D.

My system response is better then my mates [email protected] as i have low latency on Ram.

any ways its deffo not feasible for me to get C2D with my CPU@3Ghz (dualcore) unless I go for Quad @3-3.5Ghz

Guess ram matters more on AMD systems, my ram at 850 4-3-3-10 compared to 667 3-3-3-10 has no difference.

The C2D@ 3Ghz will be whipping you around the block in games. They are also very cheap. However, quads are also very good deal with the G0's going for 160 ish on here.

Ive got my own fan profiles setup in Riva though mate. If I run it with Ntune, it will stay silent at 29% but I'm not happy with the temps.

Anyhoo, I've just made a temporary mod lol. Put an 80mm fan directly in front of the 2 cards and it's shaved about 10dg off the load temp, down to 76-80.
I'll make a more permanent mod by integrating the fan into the case next week.
any pcitures - thinking of adding a 120mm fan on the side of my Antec 900 to see if that reduces the temps a bit

OK, this is the temporary mod- a fan on an egg cup lol. I'll be mounting a nice blue fan onto the case there when I get round to it, so it can draw in air from outside the case.
Just need to add -I'm now idling at 57, instead of 77! My load temps that were high were not reached while in 3DMark06 but in Real Time HDR. Either way, the 80mm fan has made a significant reduction in both idle and load temps. Things are pretty cramped in my case, which I think is the issue.

Indeed, Thats a great score for an Opty :)

Edit : Just had a text from the girlfriend. My Leadtek cards arrived :D

cheers mate, u got new card? u going SLI?

Yup got the Leadtek 8800GT today, but won't be able to get it in till tonight after work :( Upgrading from a Gainward 8800GTS 640mb.

My last rig I managed to get my AMD 3800+ x2 to 2.75Ghz on air but not 1mhz over :D

I just done another 3dmark test with little increase in shader clock and got 10517 lol not bad :)

Tbh i wouldnt mind a GT but GTS doing fine and i'v done SLI with 6800 Ultras nvidia drivers sucked for SLI imo.

let us know how ** GTS compares to GT and SLI GT :D

my current system is:

E2140 @ 2.0ghz
Giigabyte GA-G33M-S2
2gb DDRII 800mhz@830mhz
Gigabyte 8800gt @stock (for now)
Vista 32bit

WOOT, card came this morning its a gigabyte NX8800GT 512mb card with standerd clocks of 600/900.
installed it as soon as it arrived and streight away moving form my BFG 320mb 8800gts OC to the gt i noticed a differance in crysis. im sitting constant at around 45fps @ 1280x1024 with all on medium and on high about 20-25 though not smooth enough for my liking really. The game feels smoother overall and generaly just a lot better.

UT3 max detail @ native res of 1280 is smooth aswell sitting at 45-50fps and again the card doesnt even break a sweat.

The wierd part is i used to bench around 8300 in 3dmark o6 with the gts and this only hits 8100, wich is strainge.

With Ozone 3d i see a score of 3365 up from the gts's old score of 3325

I know the cpu clock is a servere limitation but its the way its allways been and the GTS benched higher so could it be a bottleneck for my GT?
i am in the proccess of sourcing a trade for my MATX bored to a p35 full atx mobo either that or a new cpu with a 1066fsb

Really cant any more its a hardware limitation of the motherbored it is completely void of any 1:1 memory ratio and the memory wont clock any higher so im looking for a swap for a p35 bored to burst the chips very life away :D

cool - thanks - will wack my 120mm fan on the side later and see what happens

Some Gigabyte 8800 GT figures :)

E6600 @ 3 Ghz 9X333

Gigabyte @ stock 600 core, 800 mem, 3D06 mark = 11500 exactly.

E6600 @ 3.3GHZ 8X413

Overclocked Gigabyte 8800GT

Core 720 Mem 2100 shader 1782

3D06 Score 13160

Very impressed with the 8800GT board :)
