** The Official 8800GT 512/256mb Review/Overclocking Thread **

Okay i got my card :)
11650 @ stock, very satisfied, that's 650 more than i got with my overclocked GTS :)
I don't think i have a very good clocker on my hands, but i'm wondering about how to do it. I know that my CPU overclock for instance fails due to insufficient voltage sometimes, not due to temperatures, as they're never higher than normal when it crashes.
However is this the same with the GPU?
I noticed it peaked at 93 degrees around the time when it artifacted in Atitool, but is this down to cooling? If so i'll get an antec nine hundred, my current case is really badly ventilated. However if it's down to volt i'll just put it down a couple of points and be happy :)

That's at 685/1000 by the way :)

Why are you in these forums when you know you should be in french class? ;)

Laptop in class, teacher doesn't mind, and none of the pupils were listening anyway, i was online @ MSN with 4 of the other ones talking about sexual references in disney movies, and i really find more interesting points of discussion in that subject matter than the french language :P

I'm using the latest rivatuner to oc my 8800GT.

Here are my results using the CS:S stress test:

GPU: 600Mhz

Memory: 900Mhz

Shader: 1500Mhz

Average framerate: 145.84

GPU: 650Mhz

Memory: 1000Mhz

Shader: 1600Mhz

Average framerate: 164.88

GPU: 700Mhz

Memory: 1000Mhz

Shader: 1650Mhz

Average framerate: 165.96

GPU: 700Mhz

Memory: 1000Mhz

Shader: 1700Mhz

Average framerate: 173.23

With fan speed set to 100% the gpu core reaches around 60C, the noise is pretty loud to be honest but nothing like a hairdryer though

Anyone thinking of volt modding?

I'd like to get past 700 on mine but it needs a vold mod, dunno if it would be worth it tho.

Will, whats the Gt doing when you try to get past 700 core, and is it only on one program, IE like 3D06 ?

I get absolutely no difference if i overclock my card (XFX), i wonder if it might be down to my dell power supply, although a previous 8800GTS i had clocked to its gills and back.

I got a 400 boost by clocking mine to 685/980 from 660/900, but no boost at all i think going to 700/1000, i suppose that's alright, since my card can't do that stable anyway :D

as soon as my card passes 725mhz on the core and 1850mhz on the shader i get "the video driver stopped communicating with the device"
i also keep my fan on 100% duty and it sits idle at 45 and loads at 56 ish

Some Gigabyte 8800 GT figures :)

E6600 @ 3 Ghz 9X333

Gigabyte @ stock 600 core, 800 mem, 3D06 mark = 11500 exactly.

E6600 @ 3.3GHZ 8X413

Overclocked Gigabyte 8800GT

Core 720 Mem 2100 shader 1782

3D06 Score 13160

Very impressed with the 8800GT board :)

Crikes, that's more than me and I'm running two of the bleeders in SLI! Looks like my 6000+ is at its knees against that E6600. :(
Still, I suppose it aint a bad AMD score, there's only E6*** and Q6*** performing better in the test.

Sarf, what were the scores running 1 card , and your scores running 2 in Sli,
be nice to know the % increase with sli back to back test on the same system .

I need to update my drivers too, as I am running on the disk drivers, that came with my GT

Guys what's the extra score in points worth when you are running a quad V a dual core at the same clocks ?. 1000, 2000 ?

Right mate hope this info is what you after:

8800GTS 320MB OC score was 10,378
8800GT 512 Single @ stock score was 10,800
2 8800GT 512s SLI OC score was 12,801

No changes to any other hardware/clocks.

I didnt overclock the 1 card as ran out of time and when you disable SLI you have to re-apply the clock in Riva.

I am on the new BETA drivers though but think they're poor for SLI tbh. Also installed the Vista SLI hotfix.
