Twanks :)

People are seeing slightly higher boosts clocks. Occasionally my 5800X3D boosts to 4550 MHz single core now, pretty sure I've only seen 4450 MHz before.

Posting in here as don't want to start a new thread.

I've noticed something weird and theorise it could be related to the power plan.

Let me lay out the time line of events.

On my x370 board with a 3700x I updated the bios to the latest AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.6b when Asus released it. I was on Windows 11 H1 at the time.

I started getting weird shutdown issues. Where either after pressing shutdown in windows it would either not shut down and just stay turned on with a blank screen or the pc would reboot!

I informed Asus about this thinking it was something related to the latest bios as that's when it started happening but heard no response.

I also had a theory it could be related to the usb as the issue would usually happen if I turned the pc on for a few mins to plug in a usb transfer some files and then shutdown.

They eventually released a new bios based on the AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.7.

Fortunately all the issues went away.

Fast forward to the release of Win 11 H2 and the issues came back again.

So now I thought it must be related to something to do with windows.

I googled around and a lot of suggestions to disable in the bios fast startup. Alas this did not help at all.

All this time I have been using the Ryzen Balanced Power plan as it is the one we should be using if we have a 3000 series chip.

I have since switched the power plan the windows balanced one and so far haven't had any issues shutting down the pc.

Still too early to tell if the power plan was the issue but so far so good over the last few days.

You haven't needed to use the Ryzen power plans for several years now.

You haven't needed to use the Ryzen power plans for several years now.
Last time I checked you still did with Zen 2 for best performance (not with Zen 1 or Zen 3).

On my 3900X with a Gigabyte X570 Master I have no issues using the Ryzen Balanced power plan with the latest chipset drivers.

I thought that was for Ryzen 5000. Anything else I thought needed to use the Ryzen Power plans. For example when you install the driver with a 5000 series CPU it doesn't install the power plans but on my 3700x it does.
This is correct (although Zen 1 also now doesn't need the Ryzen power plan) and I have no issues on my 3900X with the Ryzen power plans.
