Apple Fitness that good Danny?
I love it, I wish I didn't because my apple sub each month would be cheaper! I run a fair bit but it's added so much more for me that just pounding out miles on the treadmill or road. I use it pretty much everyday. Apple certainly know what they are doing, with a teenager with an AirPod constantly in place we need a family sub for music £16. Add another £2.99 for 200GB of storage and then you might as well go for the £32 a month package for my fitness plus.
Are you saying you still use the Garmin for running Danny? Or do you just use the Apple Watch for everything?

No I don't. I use the Apple Watch, I much prefer Garmin's for a watch and running, even the notifications and call alerts were fine for what I need, but that fitness+ tracking has me hooked in. I think the perfect watch for me will never exist. I'd like an apple watch with an older LCD type screen that the Garmin have that give you 2 weeks of battery. I don't need 3000 nits of brightness, I was quite happy pushing a backlight button on the rare occasion it was required :D

Changed my mind and got a 9 rather than a refurbed 8, mainly as it’ll get more years of software updates before I trade it in for another one in 5 years. Trading in my 4 for sweet FA but the used prices again weren’t worth the difference. Wrists still too puny for an Ultra so it’s just the bog-standard silver 45mm and a new sport loop for me as the one I got with the 4 is fraying all over the place from years of abuse.

I dread to think how much the watch would then cost. CGM work out about £100 a month. If apple crack that non invasively they would be utterly mad to sell it on a watch without a subscription charge for the service. People can get the CGM's on prescription and they are far from sturdy, they would be looking at a sturdy device to replace those and could take fortunes on prescription.

Just ordered the Ultra 2, wouldn't have got it at full price but managed to get it via Very credit bnpl over 12 months for £639 delivered.

Did you have a voucher or discount code to get it for £639?

You just have to open a new credit account with them, then when checking out choose BNPL 12 Months and use the promotional code WELCOME for 20% off first credit order.

I just looked into this.

"For orders of eligible items over £500.

Benefit will be capped at £100. A credit of £100 will be applied to your new account once the order has been dispatched."

Surely that'll be £699, not £639?

No idea? Worked for me.

Ordered 2 x GPS versions. One for the wife too.

Can anyone recommend decent protection for them and also charging stations for phone and AirPods too?
I’d go with one of these for charging, very minimal and will allow standby mode on your phone too.

From experience, all of the screen protectors are either a) useless (the stick-on type) or b) really bulky (the clip-on type).

I always use a case and screen protector for my phone but my S4 Aluminium watch has been naked from day 1. It has a few light scuffs but nothing major. On the other hand, my wife’s S4 has a big crack in the screen so YMMV.

As far as stands go, I have the predecessor to this Belkin one and it’s very good. However, mine doesn’t do wireless charing for the AirPods, it has a USB connection. I’ve actually found that very useful for charing other things, so I’m now looking at a 4-in-1 dock like this Zens one.
