The 5850 is definitely the sensible choice, crossfired and clocked 5850s would be ridiculously quick at a very good price.

Virus I thought you were in love with the Asus 4890s and didn't like any of the others - weren't you tempted to wait for the Asus 5870 to be released ?

i'll try again.. anyone think all the 5870's will be able to use the voltage tweak software or only the ASUS ones? :p

I've spent ages reading through this thread, thoroughly entertaining :D

Like many others I still have an 8800GTS 640mb that I brought pretty much on release for £300, and to me this is the first card that's telling me now is the time to upgrade again!

The reason for my post was for a heads up on some OCing software:

AMD GPU Clock Tool v0.9.26.0 For HD 5870

Hope you lucky chaps that are getting your cards tomorrow have fun!

Only becuse the Asus refrence 4890s had faster RPM fans and overclocked better out of the box. :)

Im fairly confident these new 5870s will clock like beasts.

its also roumored that asus useing there tweaking program has got there 5870 cards to 1045core useing just 1.35v from 1.15v stock :)

DisplayPort

There is the Wiki link explaining DisplayPort as the 5xxx series has one. I don't know if people wanted to know or not but it's handy suppose. I think that's the right one.

one of our monitors at work has one - I had to look on Wikipedia to see what it was - had never seen on before

I had told my colleague it must be a HDMI port - I looked very stupid when it turned out to be something I'd never even heard of before ! lol
