*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

So I didn't have to buy the game to try it - it comes free on Game Pass.

Played it for around 10h over weekend and it's not bad I must say.
Although flying heli is rly - rly rly bad comparing to bf4. Two totally different games in the air.

Overall 6/10 but will give it a go and maybe will change my mind.

And CPU optimization does s I_I CK
Which heli did you have a run in? Or did you get to use a couple of different ones?

I find that they really do differ between all of them. For me, the little bird is the most fun, I find the Apache sluggish but I get the most kills when flying it, the Stealth choppers (Huron and the Hannibal) are both good but I find them a bit boring.

I played a few rounds of Breakthrough on the new map yesterday and just used the Hind (big ol transport chopper with 2 mini guns and a front gunner seat) for about 90 minutes solidly and it was really fun. Something about the Hind that really feels good flying, it actually feels more maneuverable than the Apache - but it also really helps that you can use the two different Ikea warehouses on that map to fly away from stingers and dodge AA.

I finished one of the games with 2 kills, 2 deaths and 158 assists... Usually I don't even bother with the transport heli but it was really enjoyable yesterday.

I've tried all helis and physics are rly bad. Little bird has most in common with previous versions but doesn't feel right (atm I blame it on muscle memory).
I'll give myself another try, will spend some time in the air and lvl up to check final product as i call it :).
When I was top3 pilot in UK I was on 4k hours in heli and it took some time to get used to it (about 500h).

Bloody throwables mission on the BP was a nuisance, only seemed to work for stuff that deals damage(no spot/smoke/EMP assists) so just grabbed 20 knife kills.

Loving that TDM has been added, a nice break from the larger/longer rounds.

I'm enjoying playing rush again...small teams, fairly snappy rounds and I have found much better performance on most maps with nVidia scaling enabled.

I tried the free weekend again after trying the earlier free weekend. The game still doesnt feel like battlefield for me, bf peaked at BF1 for me. Best part of 2042 is playing bf3 in portal, why would i pay for this when i could just go and play bf3

I agree, it lacks the atmosphere of earlier titles, which peaked with BF1. The sense of WW1 was nailed by the game designers. I'm enjoying this, for something to jump into for an hour at the end of the day and without the endless frustration of WZ2 - I don't really have to patience to play BR.

Bf1 was ok and i did put a fair few hrs into it, bf3 and bf4 were my favourite though, sunk LOADS of hrs into both especially bf4....2042 is still a fun game but yes, would have to agree it dosnt feel like battlefield a great deal, still worth a play though imo as you can still have some great moments on the game

Free to play right now & Double XP weekend until Monday 1200.

Time to power through some more of the BP.
It felt like the player base was huge over the weekend! Even during the first few months I never really found that it took a long to find a game but over the weekend as soon as I pressed a mode or game type I was instantly in a lobby.

An influx of new players is always really good - although it definitely like a lot of people were less keen to play the objective.

My biggest issue over the weekend is there was a lot of off objective play and no-one revives which was hugely frustrating as I was ending matches with 30+ revives seeing others with 1 or 2. The playerbase swelling was a lot of fun though as almost all modes I played were instant in. TDM and Conquest just being packed was great fun, made it to BP60 over the weekend and quite enjoying myself though definitely playing less now that Darktide is working(mostly).

Squadplay is really not encouraged in this game.
For example, I play as Angel which means I can heal and re-arm myself. What do I need squad mates for apart from a convenient place to respawn?
Also not being able to keep a squad together on map change is a bit of an oversight.
I'm still enjoying it but BF2 was where it was at for decent squad play. It was actually quite boring without it.
