why cant I leave a lobby, why must I wait for match to start.
how do I set up my classes or do I have to pick from the 4 preset ones?
is it right that I can only expect 4 or 5 kills a match and spend the rest of the time roaming the giant maps and getting shot in the back occasionally?

genuine questions by the way

You can't have a lobby because it uses dedicated servers, not peer hosting like most console shooters. Overall it is a better experience.

They messed up the interface and its not all that intuitive unless you already know what you are doing. You are stuck with the 4 classes, as they each fill a specific role. But you can change weapons, mods and gear. Just dont expect to be able to give the recon class a health pack.

The huge maps take some getting used to. You do (eventually) learn where the action is and how to be there. Spawn on your squadmates more, rather than your base though.

There are no lobbies because its a not a peer to peer hosted game COD has lobbies because the "server" only exists when it gets a group of players together and decides one of them is host.

BF3 is hosted on dedicated servers so the game is constantly running 24/7 You will join a game that is already running when you use quick match. There are some servers that are empty, for which the game will only start when a certain number of players join. Try and avoid this by picking servers that already have lots of players in to avoid having to wait.

You set up classes under "my soldier" You have engineer, assault, recon and support. You can customize each class right from the start, but each one will only have one gun to start with. Recon has a sniper rifle, Support has a Light Machine Gun, Asssault has an Assault Rifle and Engineer has a carbine

The frequency with which you get kills depends upon the game type, and the size of the map. You can play the following game types with BF3:

Team Deathmatch, Rush, Conquest, Squad Rush, Squad Deathmatch

Team Deathmatch is probably the best to start with if you are used to COD, as its exactly like TDM in COD. You can play conquest as well which is like domination in COD, but some of the maps are huge and you will only get maybe 4 or 5 kills and spend the rest of the time hopping from flag to flag.

This will get better with BF4 on the PS4 / XB1 as the player count will increase from the current 24 to 64 players, meaning much more players about to shoot. Part of the reason you only get 5 kills on the big maps is because of how spaced out everybody is.

You can leave the end of game lobby these days. Previously you had to wait for game to start, now you can quit from the end game screens.
If you are in a full server then you should be getting more than 4 or 5 kills. However, just play the objective and you'll either score points by captures or run in to people for kills who are trying to stop you :)

Scout helicopters are really annoying me lately! They seem to do so much damage to a tank, it's ridiculous. 60 odd percent to 8 in a second or 2. Complete crap that is.

It doesnt, you need to keep moving, a good pilot will also know wher to fly so the cannon cant aim high enough.

I do always keep moving unless they are flying away to repair or something. It just really annoyed me how this particularly pilot ripped my tank in two in one quick pass, I did get him afterwards with the stinger though :).

I'll be on tonight on Xbox. Been a while. Only play standard CQ (Too tight for DLC's :) ) but if anyone's on just give us a shout.

GT - Witor53

influx of new players, must be due to it being on ps+. Lots of low rankers with not many attachments for lower guns!

xbow seems poor at the moment, even in close quarters, i'm normally quite good with it but lately either my aim has gone to **** or i'm being stuffed by poor connections. I'm going with aim!

My aim is well off also, really struggling lately, not sure why, tierd maybe, only one more rank to go though and i cant retire for a while.

Was fun fighting you again, even with the anoying Xbow  lol.

I got your tags, payback!!!
Then you took mine again :(

Weirdly that game you were the only person I could hit with the xbow!

Does anyone have any idea on which DLCs are worth a go?

I thought I might like the one focused on big tank/vehicle matches with massive maps but I'm sure I read somewhere there is hardly anyone who plays those games so wouldn't be worth it.

PS3 if it makes any difference.

Personally I like End Game. It has a nice mix of maps. Im not keen at all on armoured kill (or whatever it is).

Might be worth having a look on you tube to see what you think.

Back to Karkland is probably my favourite. All the DLCs are good but personally I preferred B2K.
