*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

I bought the game via Origin two days ago. I'd say I'm enjoying it when in-game, but I am getting frequent, maddening CTD's. :(

If you got your cpu/gpu/xmp on your rslam

Reset one by one until it doesn't crash

I had 2 errors in 700% memory testing and bf v was crashing every round.

Went from 3200 to 3133mhz passed 1000% 0 errors
No more bf v crashes played 10 hours

It's very finicky to any type of oc

I was hoping this was going to be epic being set in WW2, but it's so far from the mark it's untrue, yes it's pretty but it's historically inaccurate and buggy as hell. How can there not be a single Nazi flag for Christ sake, no Pacific theatre missions..... It had promise but has failed epically.

Probably because there's no Americans in the game at the moment. Once they're introduced we should see some new vehicles, guns and Pacific theatre maps. Like Wake Island I hope.

The kicker is though that quite a few of the assets are already in the games. The single player portion of the game has weapon and vehicle (inc. Sherman Tanks) that are not in the multiplayer yet.

The monetisation method that EA are using requires these be dripped fed to the the player over time. They should turn up... assuming that EA / DICE don't abandon the games due to poor sales and subsequent small player base being too small to extract continued income from.

But there's no paid dlc, so the only reason to delay content is to keep people playing longer and stimulate more game sales. I'm actually okay with that as I prefer it to player base dividing dlc maps.

There is paid DLC, they are hoping to sell you cosmetic items instead of full expansion packs. They have just changed the method of making money from getting 10 people to pay £40 each for premium to trying to get 100 people to pay £4 each of a weapon skin (and then hopefully get each of those 100 players to buy multiple skins each so they keep spending small amounts over time. In theory they can make more money out of this than just selling players a higher cost but one time only purchase). This requires a very large player base, think Fortnight or PUBG numbers, as the vast majority of players don't spend money on 'optional' in games items. The problems is that they screwed up the marketing and launch of the game so much that they probably don't have the player base to make this system sustainable in the long term. Yes they will keep it up for a bit to try and stimulate sales to grow the player base but if new players fail to materialise then I fully expect it to get the Battlefront 2 treatment and be effectually abandoned.

EA is run by accountants who only care about profit and keeping the shareholders happy, making good games is a just a side effect. If the game fails to meet their revenue targets they will not waste good money after bad in their eyes and cut their losses in the short term.

As much as like free stuff, as with all things in life it you get what you pay for, don't expect too much for nothing.

If people want to buy skins that's up to them. It does not change the gameplay experience or split up the player base. They have to make the game profitable at the end of the day, and optional skins is fine by me.

The only concern is that they cancel future content because the model is unprofitable (as you've suggested). That said, free maps, weapons, vehicles and game modes is all a okay with me.

They arent free, youve paid for them already, the future content drops is simply stuff that should have been in the base game at release but EA / Dice want the players to forget that so that they can pretend they are giving players stuff for free when the reality is they released a shell of a game in the first place.

The people paying for the premium subscription are paying for the dlc.

How long is the single player campaign on this

I've got no interest in multi player

About 5 hours. Go play something else if you want Single player campaign, BF first and foremost is a game geared for multiplayer. Oh yeah, and the SP in BF5 is probably the worst SP I've played ever, it's embarrassing.
