*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

Yeah, good luck actually spotting anyone with the way they're able to hide in shadowed areas with ease. Most of my deaths are from shots from enemies that weren't even visible.

Absolutely 100% fine with this.

People using shadows and terrain to their advantage doesn't bother me in the slightest, it's part of the game. Just the same as someone shooting me in the back and me dying. They out played me, I deserve to die.

Not be given the chance to jump, do a 180 spin in the air and beat them.

Oh but it will turn into a camping mess I hear everyone cry. Not really, if they stay where they are you know where they are and can flank them.

Turret rotation looks fine as well? It's a WW2 tank, not a space ship.

How many battlefield games have you played? Tank turrets have always rotated fast, now after 16 years they suddenly decide to try and make it "realistic". It's utterly stupid how slow it is in first person mode.

You think an entire sweep of your mouse mat to move 3-4 degrees on the turret in first person is ok?

I can't even join a squad, just says private all the time. They aren't fixed on mine, might restart game. Absolutely loving this though boys, I genuinely am.

That explains the not being able to revive unless you're a medic then. reddit suggests the servers were reset ~1hour ago and that squads are now working.

BF3, BC2, BF4, BF1

I think DICE should do what is needed to balance a game. If they feel people are going to go on 50-0 rampages instead of playing the game then fair do's, I have no issues with them slowing down the turret rotation.

So in other words its ok to relegate them to camping on hills at range because anything remotely close enemy players will be able to scoot around them with ease and slap tnt all over them. May as well take them out of the game if that's the direction they're trying to go in.

Better hope you have a good squad who work as a team to protect your sides and rear then!

They are pushing hard for team play as they do in all BF games.

On pubs? I'd be better teaming with Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles.

Exactly my point. A single person shouldn't be able to change the course of a battle simply because they are a god in a tank and spend the whole game just mowing people down.

They have to cater for everyone, experienced and new

Whether the TTK is low or high, it is imperative that DICE create a game which rewards practice and skill. A top tier player skill wise going on a 50-0 rampage against poor players is inevitable and in many ways desirable. A game which doesn't reward skill and practice is going to fall flat on it's face.

As far as pubs go, we were on a bf1 server last night against a fairly coordinated clan, about 6-7 of us and slightly more of them. Battered them, but that's a combination of skill (not necessarily mine), practice and teamwork. We've been battered by a better clan before, but it's pretty rare (Turbo, some of their players have over 200,000 kills and 3-4k hours in the game).

It's not a matter of mowing people down, its a matter of dice making them useless in closer ranges. Why after 16 years change something like turret rotation speed? It makes absolutely no sense. Tanks were already piles of crap in the alpha, this is just the strawberry topping on the big crap pile. This change virtually means you had better hope your turret is pointed in the right direction at all times otherwise you're SOL.

As far as I can see they are?

They are damed if they do something and damed if they don't.

So while some people loved the fact that Battlefield has always been a vehicle dominated game (and lord knows I've taken advantage of that myself many times) to some others it was a matter of frustration. It's now the same for everyone and if this means a Tanker now needs to be much more careful about where they go and how close to the battle they get then that's fine by me. Things change in every battlefield game, this is just one and it more likely similar to the rotational speed of a turret in real life.

This is probably a good example.

Remind me again when battlefield tried to be "realistic"? It uses real world events in a game that isn't even remotely realistic. We all know ww2 tank turrets rotated slowly, doesn't mean they have to replicate that in game. If they had replicated ww1 tanks speed in bf1 the game would probably be over before they left the spawn.

Nice to know someone sees it from my point of view!

I have no issues with vehicles being used if they require the skill of their squad to use effectively.

However a single person in a jet or tank should not be able to change the outcome of a battle just by themselves.

The tank turret doesn't have to be 100% accurate, as you've said the game itself isn't, however it should be closer to being realistic than out right stupid.

The problem is it's speed is fine in 3rd person view, just terribly slow in 1st person. That's inconsistency. If you can't even track a running soldier or moving vehicle in front of you it renders 1st person view obsolete. IMO no vehicle in bf should have a 3rd person view as it allows wall peeking (which infantry can't do) but that's a different argument for a different day.

Don't worry, knowing dice you'll probably have full 3D spotting and tank turrets spinning around like a dreidel in 6 months when Dice do one of their updates and mess with the game some more.

Battlefield is always in Beta :D

Haha too true, the updates were strong with Betafield 1
