*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

So are we expecting a completed/working game to be released with BF5 :p?

I doubt it. The development teams all run agile development processes now. In theory this should mean we get a working game on release (although in practice I'm sure there will be infuriating bugs/glitches and balance issues). With the "ongoing service" mantra and an agile development process you can be sure the game will not be feature complete on release. A good example would be bf1 release without a working server browser and no platoon support.

It will be the same trash BF Hotline and BF1 were, great to start with and play beta. But with very short life spans. No destruction like the bad companies, no balance in the weapons. Loot boxes locked behind paywalls and progression pretty much stripped out. This is EA. With a BF release, they will pump out BS and hype the game to the max, only to be absolutely ripped apart by the community and try to salvage the game once the damage has been done.

Have they learnt anything from the Star Wars BF release? No. Not in the slightest.

So basically same **** different skin. :p

Hardline was the biggest piece of dung in BF history, such a trash game.

I played and enjoyed the campaign but never really played the online.

In beta, it was fun. But as the beta came to a close, it was very obvious it had the depth of a politicians personality. So upon launch, everyone was over it and onto the next game. That's why it flopped so hard.

Each one is moving further and further away from the true battlefield experience we are/were used to years ago. Each one is getting easier, cheesier, and aimed at children rather than die hards of the old games. Where they say things like a first time for something, the way this game has gone in recent years, I wouldn' t be surprised if its the first time ever for cosmetic loot boxes in a true battlefield game. Ea don't give two hoots about the customer or his/her enjoyment of the title, all their b.s. doesn't wash with me any more. First and foremost to them is how to make most profit at the expense of us once we are in the game.

Only way they'll get me back as if it's true to form battlefield, high skill level, no retarded heroes, proper gun mechanics, true 64 or more conquest/rush, aimed at an age group higher than a 14 year old.

OH AND NO bloody pubg/fortnight last man standing crud in it. Sick to death of that rubbish.

Would love a re-skinned BF:V, but whatever we get is going to include bloated rubbish that no one outside of a few clueless youtubers asked for.
Expectations of a true BF game have long gone.

On a related note why has no other company developed a BF type game? Its not like the franchise runs at a loss.

Have you tried squad?
BF is a casual game and has been since bc1, it's fun though and I enjoy it and it's "battlefield moments". Games like squad and ARMR have been filling the more serious through to sim battlefield experiences, but they don't sell in the volumes that BF or COD do so EA will always cater for the casual market. Also remember both COD and BF franchises are targeted primarily at consoles and have been since BC1 and COD3, so it you can't play it with a controller and the CPU/memory limits of a console, it won't work on a console.

Edit also Post scriptum is looking like it's shaping up to be a very fine WWII squad based shooter for the less casual crowd (offshoot of squad IIRC).

They better get rid of the retarded melee takedown animation/move.......

Aside from the gunplay mechanics and behemoths, it is possibly the most retarded mechanic to have ever been added to a BF game :o Can't stand the charge and what's even more annoying are people that are in close proximity and they just hit one button and automatically lock onto you for an auto easy kill if you are below certain health..... it's embarrassing just thinking that this was even added to the game in the first place......

I don't mind an un-counterable melee takedown from behind, as long as you can't lock on from a distance. I liked the counter melee system in bf4 from the front, I thought that worked well, and if bayonet charges have to be included in this next game, then they should have a timed sidestep and melee counter too.

But yes ww2 pretty much confirmed.
And the tickets are going down not up.

Edit:
Further analysis suggests:
- It's a revive animation not a melee takedown (There are only two people on the minimap at the centre and they're in the same squad)
- There are four classes shown in the squad: Assault, Medic, Support and Recon (Doesn't mean there can't be another though)
- The mini map has contour lines showing the map elevation.

It’s about time! Really looking forward to a WW2 bf game.

Just be nice to see and use much more well known, loved and remembered weapons and vehicles. Hopefully things like sherman’s, panzers, spitfires and Lancaster’s.

Be nice to see what improvements they bring too.
