*** The Official Battlefield 5 thread***

Lol, why are people buying into this ****? It's going to be riddled with microtransactions for currency, barely any weapons and 'classes' will be pointless. EA killed dice years ago and it will be dead in a matter of months just like BF1.

Bf1 has very busy servers still?

I have come to the conclusion that some seem to like posting negatively on here than actually playing games, there seems a lot of toxicity of late in the forums.

I'm not sure about toxicity but I'll stand firm on my opinion when it comes to EA. Time and time and time again they've ripped off their customers and yet people still buy into it and months later bitch and moan about it being a mess and empty.

Sub 50k is not a lot of people... The recent rise is simply because of BF5.

It just gets to me when I see people so easily won over by clearly bad marketing that's not true for what the actual product is. I've fallen for it many times but now, it's just plain outright stupidity on EA's behalf.

Sub 50k two years after launch is damned good going IMO? And they just gave away the premium pass for free too!

Light tanks look interesting, suppose the turret rotation speeds make sense now, though it wasn't quite as obvious in the beta, tiger and the medium tanks seemed to turn at around the same speed. Still being tweaked though.

Just curious, as I don't love or hate EA, how did they rip people off? I know all about the Battlefront debacle but that's all.

Well for me it mostly happened around BF3, with the premium pass leaning heavy on already completed or close to completed chunks of the game being pulled out and locked behind DLC forcing people to buy it to continue playing on servers that had the specific DLC maps enabled. I think 2142 had similar but can't remember? BF4 was similar but had really bad release issues, there is still a debate today on which is better, BF3 or 4. Personally I think 4. Either way, both had the horrible DLC taste.

From then it's been a **** show of reducing content and increasing the micro transactions and DLC walls. They don't listen to their community and have been voted the worst company time and time again due to their shady practices. They don't deserve the profit they get as all games they now release have the same micro transaction/DLC pay to play even though you pay AAA retail game price for the base game. Just look at the Sims! I've provided links below to back up all what I said.

(at this point, DLC/expansion packs are a norm)
(comparison, BF4 had hundreds of weapons: http://symthic.com/bf4-weapon-info)

Don't even get me started on the Battlefront duo, this is where they had perfected the loot box, in game currency, DLC and expansion packs to a T and they were milking it. Locking the heroes/villains (vadar, luke etc) behind a paywall: https://mashable.com/2017/11/09/star-wars-battlefront-2-pay-win/

And heres a quick google on the numerous years EA has been voted the worst company: https://www.google.com/search?q=ea+...0j69i57j0l4.1875j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

At this point, I've absolutely 0 faith in what EA says. They say there will be no lootboxes in BF5... Sureeeee, ingame currency? Most likely. I really hope something changes as the BF formula used to be one of a kind, but it's not what it once was due to the greed of EA and now Dice is so watered down, there is no longer that spark from the devs as there used to be.

Never bought any of these, never missed them, you said yourself they are useless. Don't want it? Don't buy it. It's useless, so doesn't affect the game.

Same as above. Also, BF2 had 3 expansion packs remember. Special Forces was GBP19.99 (equivalent to 30 quid now) back in 2005 and died very quickly.

Never really noticed any of these issues to be honest. Don't have an opinion.

Didn't look good, didn't buy it, never played it. Don't care about it. It's failure was a good thing as it didn't take people away from the BF3 player base.

I doubt there were that many weapons lying around in WW1. And I thought there were too many weapons in BF4, and many felt the same anyway, just different skins/models.

If someone wants to be stupid enough to buy themselves or their kids all the Sims stuff, let them at it.

Never played either, no opinion. Don;t like Star Wars.

Who can be bothered to vote on these polls? It must just be teenage boys and angry neckbeards whining about DRM. You do realise that when companies make money they invest that money into new products and expanding the business? They don't don't just laugh maniacally and fill underground vaults with treasure. The shareholders expect growth and this has probably brought a few games that you wouldn't otherwise have had the chance to play.

I have never once bought a lootbox and never once felt disadvantaged. Actually I lie, I bought some FUT cards on FIFA 13 because I was lazy and I am terrible at FIFA. I soon stopped playing, because I am terrible at FIFA.

People hold up BF2 as this shining beacon of amazingness. "It shipped with 12 maps!" they cry. Yeah, but probably 6 of those were terrible and after a few months servers only ever ran a handful. As far as I can remember, all the original maps in BF1 at release were worth playing. Did anyone ever actually like Songhua Stalemate or Zatar Wetlands or that one with the dam?

If you don't like EA games then don't buy them. Don't give them your money. If EA really were that bad then the public would stop buying their products and the market would correct. If people still buy after all this whining then their principles can't have been that strong in the first place.

You can't really be angry at EA that much. The general gaming public has changed in the last 15 years. It's become much more accessible and companies are providing offerings that people want. Back in BF2 days, only a few people had the horsepower and connection to get involved, so it was obviously going to be more niche. Those days are gone unless you want to fund an independently developed game.

This phenomenon is hardly new. It's analogous to the music industry with a band's difficult second album and their sell-out third/fourth album at which point their fans turn on them.

I've only cropped the above as I just wanted to point out, they haven't bought into this latest cash grab with the pre order stats speaking for them selves.

I do openly hate on EA, they are a shambles and I just hoped my post could highlight their constant shenanigans to others before wasting their money on BF5. However, it seems, some are still hoodwinked :)

Why pre-order when you can sign up to Origin Access Premier at £15pm and play this and fifa and Anthem and hundreds of other games? Pre-orders don't tell the whole story.

This will probably be the first battlefield (hardline aside, as that doesn't count) I don't buy.

Fingers crossed Bad Company 3 can pull me back in, otherwise they've lost a dedicated soul from the very beginning.
