Fun fight isn't it? She's of the coolest bosses in the game, or any game really.

I enjoyed it at the start until she kept hitting me with that near undodgeable laser beam attack in phase two.

I was physically shaking after taking her down as that last phase is just mental and even though you only need a few decent attacks to land she can wipe you out so quickly. :D

Finally defeated Orphan of Kos!!!

He nearly broke me, I lost count of the attempts and even considered cheesing him at one point but I finally got the **** down.

The second phase is weird in that for all his jumping about all you need to do is resist the urge to dodge about too much and calmly walk behind him. I couldn't understand why he was jumping on my head and beating me up while almost standing still for people in the youtube videos until I stopped trying to get out of his way. :D

Now, on to Laurence!

Good luck my friend! I still haven't beaten Laurence. Orphan of Kos was hard in NG++ but Laurence just utterly mullered me. I just gave up. Even when you try to let someone come and help you its super hard not to die. His final phase is just brutal.

I have such a new appreciation for this game. It took me 3 years to beat this game for the first time, even as a massive Souls fan. It was a trial of frustration for me as it just wouldn't click. Since then I platinumed the game in 5 days and love the game. Sure blood gems, arcane and bloodtinge are poorly implemented, there are too few mandatory bosses and the main game is honestly a little on the short side but I still had a blast. Even the chalice dungeons were pretty fun though very repetitive at times, I'd love to see them take another crack at the concept.

This is one of the best games I've ever played. Fantastic atmosphere and lore. I made a huge mistake by playing this before Dark Souls, the series feels clunky and sluggish now.

Have just beaten Orphan of Kos myself and while every other boss took around five attempts at most, this one took around 20:p I was doing nicely but always had to screw up at some point. I'm already way overlevelled for endgame because of chalices and DLC but it's time to wrap up Mensis and Lawrence:p

Still never beat Kos and Lawrence. Which annoys me somewhat, maybe one day il jump back in for a proper grind run and try and beat them.

I think I find them both challenging because they are not your typical souls bosses so tactics are a bit weird.

It's fantastic! Must replay soon, I wish it got a ps4 pro patch to make it shine visually

For Orphan, you have to bait his attacks in the first phase and evade into them diagonally to the left (as with virtually every other boss:p), which will put you behind him and allow you to get 1-2 hits in.
You should also try to bait out his jump and as he does it run forward a bit. He'll always jump over you and you'll get a free visceral. Some of his attacks are also easy to parry, the huge uppercut he does has an easy timing which means a free visceral.

Second phase is a bit more wild. Remember to fight him in the water, not on the shore. Gives you a lot more freedom to move around and trivialises his lightning waves.
His jumps and attacks look ferocious but a single well-timed dodge will put you behind his entire sequences allowing you to hack away at him for a bit. You can also play unlocked to make dodging his second phase easier. Just don't get overly greedy and learn his timings.

Orphan of Kos was a bit of a **** to beat but nothing like Lawrence. His second phase on the ground is insane. I just gave up in the end.

I brute forced Kos in the end, used all 20 vials as well as the Blood of Adeline and Iosefka's Blood Vial and still ended up with about 25% HP remaining. Laurence...yeah I just crushed him with my 99 Arcane Executioners Gloves :p. Ludwig and Maria were pretty easy though, even without using any Hunter Tools.

I'd definitely recommend a pure Arcane build , makes the game so easy and it's so fun to just run through things with ease. Don't be put off by people saying it's tough early on, Molotovs, Flamesprayer and Oil Urns will melt the early game bosses and the 10.5% Cursed gems from Layer 2 Pthumeru Chalice will carry you through the main game just fine and can be gotten easily after BSB.

Currently trying a Bloodtinge build, should be fun as well :D.

I was left with 7 and full health using the strats above but it does require patience and some precision:p
Currently went back to Ailing Loran and it's funny how much easier BSB in layer 2 is compared to Orphan, and it's a d4 chalice:p

I'm tempted by full arc but I'm doing a Str/Skl/Arc blimp for NG+ and above so it'll have to wait:D Kinda want to make a new char focused on skl/blt with Chikage/Evelyn, though.

The DLC bosses are depth 4-5 worthy as they are and BSB is easy anyway to be fair :p. Loran Darkbeast and Abhorrent Beast are the real challenges in Loran Chalices.

Genuinely the only bosses I struggled with seriously in the game were Orphan of Kos and Lawrence. At that point I was in a NG+ or NG++ so I have no idea how hard they would have been on plain NG but nothing in the chalice dungeons came close and I have done pretty much every level of chalice dungeon.

Well, Orphan is a ***** to fight with his aggressiveness, damage and ability to cancel animations. You feel like you're in control and three seconds later you're dead. Even though most of his attacks are quite easy to avoid/exploit, you have to stay focused for longer because of his stupid health pool which makes it easier to make a mistake at some point.

Frankly, I liked Ludwig a lot more. He's fierce but fair and the fight doesn't involve so much waiting around.

I never got past Father G. Had to summon help, and for the BsB. I really enjoy exploring the game, the fact I can summon help for the bosses to me is a blessing as it still allows me to enjoy the game my own way.
