Didn't watch the female fight on the weekend but by all accounts it seemed like a good event? I just can't get excited for female boxing. Not until they change it to 12x3 minute rounds.

David Benavidez really beat up Andrade on the weekend. Expected when someone is jumping 2/3 classes. Will he get that Canelo fight he's been after, I doubt it.

Hearing the PPV price for the December 23rd is going to be £19.99 on DAZN. For that price even I will thank his excellency for putting this event on because for the price some PPVs have been recently that is an absolute bargain.

Supposedly Eubank Jr vs Benn is back on and they're hoping for it to be at the Tottenham stadium. I don't understand how this is going ahead when he hasn't been cleared. I was really onboard with the Benn train but this whole situation and how it was handled has put me right off. It's boxing, PED cheats happen and it is unfortunately part of the sport. Though if you get caught, face the damn music and accept your ban then get back on with your career. I love Canelo and he is a PED Cheat - though he did provide a hair sample to show it may have been accidental - but just holding your hands up and apologising is that is required. Benn wont even do that. I've gone from a supporter to a hater overnight. Hope boots flattens him.

Quite a few more big fights on their way before the end of the year but I'd say 2023 has been pretty spectacular in terms of events this year and with 2024 starting off with an undisputed heavyweight title fight, I think 2024 could also provide some good match ups.

I get your reticence on the women's bouts. The depth of quality isn't there but it is improving. However, the fight at the weekend was really good and arguably made better for the shorter round. I'm for keeping them at 2 mins but stretching the rounds to 12. My only beef with Saturday was that Taylor was allowed to hold and spoil so much.

The Eubank vs Benn thing is where I lose respect for Eddie Hearn. Failed tests aside, they are not near the same weight class and I think it's irresponsible to make the match. It just smacks of exploitation and moves boxing towards the YouTube stuff.

19.99 seems good value for that card. Nice way to end the year.

Irresponsible is a bit of a stretch really. There was more of a size difference in the Tyson vs Lewis fight than there would be in this one, but that fight wouldn't be considered irresponsible.

The problem with your comparison is that Heavyweights don't have to "boil" down to make a weight and then rehydrate. Benn is being forced to inflate which is doable but if the bout is made at the catchweight of sub 160lbs then Eubank has to really work hard to get there. He's older now so it's not so manageable. Benn's camp will also likely insist on a rehydration clause that prevent's Eubank returning to something heavier than a Super Middleweight of 168lbs. I know Canelo has messed around with the weights but you saw how tough he found it going up against the light heavyweight Bivol. There are plenty of other fights out there for both of them.

Caught up with Conlan vs Gill over the weekend, Conlan looks like a fighter at the end of the road with miles on the clock already, couple of wars ending in bad knockout losses, now another stoppage after getting hurt a few times to Gill (decent performance, looked far stronger in there).

Maybe that pushes a Wood vs Warrington rematch a little more now?

Yes Conlan looks like he has lost all punch resistance. How different things could have been had he not contrived to be knocked out in the last round vs Wood when he was well ahead. I felt he was too easy to hit in his last two fights and almost fighting on emotion. Quite impressed by Gill and more so after hearing how low he was earlier in the year.. He looked good at the weight and had some nice shots. Can't see why Conlan would continue when he's lost 3/4 and they are all quite bad losses. Hopefully he gets some good advice and heeds it.

Well... Haney put on one hell of a performance against Prograis. I thought he'd win but I didn't think it would be a 120-107 affair. Utter domination and a boxing masterclass. Really impressed me in this fight especially his discipline in the later rounds. He could've got Regis the hell out of there in round 7 but he stuck to a plan and dominated his opponent.

I don't know what Devin did to make people dislike him so much but he has one hell of a resume for such a young fighter. Undisputed and now a 2 weight world champion. The question is does he stay at 140 or does he try his luck at 147?

Maybe he is not as good as advertised and his personality has a lot to be desired that's why people dislike him.
Fighting a shot old man in Regis is a boxing masterclass.. We didn't see any of that against Loma.
And in many people eyes Loma was robbed!
Some people saw the fight differently.

Loma wasn’t robbed. It was a close fight. Could’ve went either way and I wouldn’t have complained.

34 world champion is shot? Regis was arguably the 2nd best champion at lightweight and Haney went in there and made him look absolutely clueless and he couldn’t land anything.

Not every boxer needs to be able to put people away with power. Has Haney got power to one punch KO people? No. But he’s obviously got power to keep people away from steam rolling him.

He won every single round, dropped and stunned his opponent on several occasions. The way he was able to pivot out of pocket, his counter punching, speed, timing and accuracy was all incredible in that fight.

This should’ve been a competitive fight but Haney made it anything but. He deserves credit for that.

The Loma fight showed how bang average Haney is, An older smaller guy who he was struggling to hang with..
Regarding Regis not saying he did but plenty of boxers don't come to win/cash out just look at Canelo's career.
The phrase all style and no substance springs to mind.

I think it's wild to call someone bang average if they get a decision over Loma, but that's just me.

He may not have the type of style you like to see in a fighter but to call him bang average is a ridiculous take.

If you take umbrage with that statement I can't help that but on the flip side of that is saying the fight against Prograis was a boxing masterclass is a bit ridiculous also.
And saying he may not be my style has nothing to do with it.

clearly you dont get to where he is being average, Regis would have complete dominated average fighters in the weight class.

What else can you call it then? He just set a record for having the least amount of punches landed on him over 12 rounds. The main objective of boxing is to hit and not get hit. He has just demonstrated that, against a very credible opponent despite what you try to claim, in a world title fight at his first fight at that weight.

If you have an issue with me calling it a masterclass of boxing then change it from masterclass to an superb performance.

And saying he may not be my style has nothing to do with it.

It has everything to do with it. You're posting videos of him not having much pop to his punches (at a lower weight mind you. He has looked like a corpse on the scales at his last few 135. The fact he rehydrated to 165 fight night shows he should've never been at that weight) as if a fighter should only be judged by his power.

It's not even an insult. Some people prefer pressure styles and others prefer defensive.

You seem to contradict yourself 'He could've got Regis the hell out of there in round 7 but he stuck to a plan and dominated his opponent' your words not mine.
'Not every boxer needs to be able to put people away with power. Has Haney got power to one punch KO people? No.'

I am lead to believe the amount of the amount of punches thrown in that fight was below average and you think that is a good thing..

I gave you some evidence of him of contrary to what you claim and dismiss it and now you talk of weight classes and claim he should never been at that weight, are you new to boxing? this sort of thing happens all the time. Loma was older and smaller, advantage Haney is it not?

It's nothing about preference, Skill is skill.. Ok I will change it from 'masterclass' to nothing special.
