Pacman would have eaten him alive had they fought 4 years earlier. He dodged a prime Pacman
I always find this argument funny. Do people forget Floyd is almost 2 years older than Manny? So if he fought Manny when Manny was past his prime, the same applies to Mayweather.
Shane Mosley was very close nevermind Pacman in his prime.

Close in that he landed a fantastic punch that rocked and wobbled Floyd but then lost every second of all the following rounds. I always look at that fight to show how good Floyd was at making adjustments on the fly.

For what it's worth. I this SRL would've had Mayweather's number for sure. I always wanted to see the Khan fight when that was being toyed with. For all his faults I think Khan's handspeed would've troubled Floyd for a few rounds

Yeah lol, I was going to mention this but forgot.

Also - I find with Maywether that there are always so many excuses people pull out,

For me - he was just too good, the best defence ever in boxing? 50-0 isn't an accident.

People also forget the condition Mayweather has kept himself in, his entire life - he's kept himself in elite athletic condition, he's dedicated his entire life to the sport - it deserved serious respect.

Manny was losing his ability as age grew whilst Mayweather as you clearly pointed out, relies upon defensive boxing which ages better for an athlete.

Pacman would have beaten Mayweather had they fought earlier.

But no one saying nothing about

Pacman fought with injured shoulder and was denied shot in locker room.

All this is unclear and all this is about money.

Yeah, back when Showtime used to do the 24/7 events leading up to fights it was always impressive seeing how dedicated he was to the sport. I want to say that after the Canelo fight he was back in the gym that night. Though I could be misremembering events.

Floyd and his 0 has had a negative effect on boxing with these new fighters wanting the big pay-days that Floyd got but they forget how hard he worked in his career, especially as 'Pretty Boy', to be able to command the numbers he did.

Plus he played the heel incredibly well.

I'd pick both Pretty Boy Floyd and Money May to beat Manny, if I am honest. The defensive part is interesting, as you point out.

His famous move, the pull counter, literally relies on athleticism and reaction time. He has to react to their attack at the last moment to evade and counter. To suggest that doesn't deteriorate as they age is disingenuous

I think people forget how offensive Pretty Boy was until he smashed his hands up. It's actually a testament to his skill that he was able to reinvent himself and still remain at the top.

Congrats to Jai Opetaia on defending his IBF title in what was more of a tear up than a boxing match but was entertaining none the less!

David had no business being there really, his last 3 opponents are rank 95, 227, 486. Sad to watch him getting severely KO`d.

Not that I'll miss him but it's a shame he and AJ never got in the ring together, outside of sparring.

I'll still always believe AJ beats Fury but we'll never know and now it's another 'what if'.

Oh well, onwards and upwards!

To be honest the boats long sailed on that fight anyway. 2021 when they were supposed to fight and Wilder 3 got in the way was the prime time for the fight, would have been the biggest thing ever in British boxing! That was just before Usyk came in and derailed both their hype trains!

3 years on they're both damaged goods now it would still be a big fight but they're both on their last legs I'm not sure what it would really prove.

Anyway Fury won't stay retired and will come back sooner or later so don't be shocked if the fight still happens!

I'd still want the fight, if it was in the UK I'd even try to go. I see it as a closing of the era of their generation, nothing more nothing less. It has absolutely lost the allure it had when they both had all the belts though.

I don't know when boxing as a sport, the boxers themselves and the promotors will stop trying to marinate fights all the time. Just fight when you bloody can. ffs.

Either way, I agree with you. This is a play out of the Mayweather book. Retire and demand a big payday to make it worth your while to get in the ring
