I went to watch a bit of live boxing on Saturday. Upcomer Adam Azim was fighting for a european title and local boxer Tyler Denny was also on the card. Much prefer watching these lower profile fights, Wolverhampton Civic Halls was great little venue.

Small hall fights are great. I've been to a stadium fight and I'll never do that again but York Hall is a great atmosphere despite being so small.
I actually think the O2 Arena is my favourite 'big fight' venue in the UK. Big enough to feel like a good spectacle but not as bad as it is being in a stadium.

Speaking of Azim, I like him a lot. Though I find it odd just how fast Sky/Boxxer are moving him. They're moving him faster than Ben Whittaker which is weird on paper but I do believe he's been out with an injury so that probably why

Yes i agree, he looks good, but a long way to go, he needs to work on his movement, but hes got a decent defense, and long reach. The way they are pushing him, is simailr to what they have done with Dubois, too much too soon can hinder a youngish boxer skills.

Whittaker is also a local lad and was at the venue, apparently he was meant to be the headliner here, but now hes pencilled in to fight in December.

The cynical side in me says they are pushing him because really, who have Sky/Boxxer got to be their face? They brought Okolie over only for him to stink the place out, Billam-Smith... Lets be honest anyone in the same division as Opetia may as well just hand him the belts now, they brought over Buatsi only to have him fight Azeez (Was really looking forward to that fight in all honesty) whereas really they should've been pushing him towards Bivol, Riakporhe has already beaten CBS so they could do an inhouse British world title fight but again, Opetia is just going to collect the belts and Fraizer Clarke... he got looked over for 2 different Olympic cycles ( AJ and Joyce) can say I have much faith in him and think Wardley beats him on heart alone.

I could be missing some fighters but I don't think Parker is with them any more, even though his only fight with them (?) ended up being on a BT show and he got pummelled by Joyce. That wasn't Ben Shallom's finest hour :p and I believe Eubank is a free agent and actually with the Sauerland brothers?

So to me it looks like all of their hopes and dreams are pinned on Adam and Ben. I am fully on the Whittaker train though. From seeing how disappointed he was at the Olympics for losing the gold and his confidence/showboating in the ring. Love to see it. Though I've always loved a bit of show boating if you can pull it off. Probably why I love Pernell and Prince Naz so much.

I'd love to see this fight. I was calling for it prior to the Eubank Jr fight. Not because I think Connor stands any chance with Boots but because I want to see Benn taught a lesson within the ring. He cheated and got let off with a technicality. Him acting like a victim, treating the fans like we are idiots and then acting as if nothing happened. Not going to fly with me.

Boots would make light work of him.

I was under the impression his fight with Eubank Jr was going to be announced imminently. Must be why he's now calling the danger men out. Straight out of the Fury playbook.

he tries to get into any big money fight possible, the European champion would have beat him and he knows it.

Is there a lack of genuine world level British boxers?

I think we have a fair few world level fighters. Perhaps not active world champions but off the top of my head

Tyson Fury, Sunny Edwards, Joe Cordina, Leigh Wood and Chris Billam-Smith our or current world champions. I could be missing others. Out of those I would say Sunny is probably our best world champion. The others I feel could get beat by others in their division.

I think we for sure have a future world champion in Whittaker, maybe Itauma and Hopey Price. We have a stacked LHW scene domestically but I'm unsure who of them would go on to world honours seeing as they haven't already.

It does feel like we are in a bit of a recession with our fighters though. A few years back it felt like we had a world champion or a contender at worst in each division.

david benavidez vs demetrius andrade this weekend.

this will be very interesting because they are 32-0-0 and 27-0-0 and Canelo ducks them both in my view.

Hard to score this. Feel that Taylor is initiating the hold a lot more which is spoiling Cameron's work. Probably Taylor ahead 5-2
