*** The Official BTCC Thread ***

Went to a BTCC weekend for the first time today, would have been rude not to with Croft being 30 mins away from me.

Took some very amateur footage from a P&S to show what I could see. £13 for the whole day and from where I was sat I could see the cars exiting the Jim Clark Esses, enter the big hairpin and then finish the complex near the end of the lap. Good value I reckon, you can stand right next to that fence in front of me which is 3m from the tarmac.

Clio Cup spin right in front of me on lap 1 causing red flag.

End of BTCC qualifying, including Plato setting a qualifying record for the track.

The Ginettas were pretty fun to watch, here's what one w/o its bonnet looks like.

Can't go tomorrow unfortunately.

Edit: Just realised I have this short clip of a BMW quite literally being a driving advertisement :p

Ok, so I assume that now, regardless of any results of any races, because Plato in on pole and therefore has proved he has the fastest car, he wont complain at all about the speeds of the NGTC engine cars?

BAH! Yeah right!

Apparently the Civic's are still 4mph quicker in the speed trap.

Some suggestions that they were sandbagging, don't see why though.

Im always surprised that BTCC doesn't have a huge viewing in the UK. I bloody love it, proper racing!

I've never understood why this is, for me BTCC and rallying are the best motorsport! At least the BTCC gets a whole day on TV even if it is pushed down to ITV4.

Just got back in, in time for the last race. Did anything interesting happen in the other races? Who won them?

A mixed bag of weather in the first race, kept on starting and stopping raining, and then a super close finish, just 0.055 seconds between first and second.

Winner of first was Matt Neal, then Matt Jackson.

2nd race was one by Matt Neal again, Plaso DNF with a broken driveshaft

Cool.. I'll watch then through tonight! :)

At least ITV4 seems to have sorted its feed out this time round! Was awful for me last time.

Unfortunately a lot of people have maintained a snobbish opinion of BTCC since all the major manufacturers left in the late 90's. They consider it 'boring hatchback racing'. But there not a great loss. I like to watch racing, not a showroom parade of exotic metal.

First race was epic, second was good but Honda's winning again :/

Not Jason Plato in disguise are you?

Another decent weekends racing, sporting of Collard to let his team mate back past him at the end too.

Little disappointed that the Vauxhalls didn't really make much headway at the front end, Jordan made a couple of good passes but Nash struggling for setup and getting turned around in one of the races didn't help. I'm not sure if their longer wheelbase worked against them as well.

Not sure what the new Snetterton track is like, it used to be all about the POWAAAAAAA but there is quite a lot of new infield.
