Can't help but agree, the teams who have spent big money on the turbo cars must be wondering why they bothered, given the way they've been hobbled later in the season just because the Hondas were so quick.

Agree with Spunkey, except I actually liked him until this season. Now just think hes a whinging ****. God I hope he doesn't manage to complain his way to the title, and that who ever is in charge will grow some balls over the winter and tell him to either shut up or **** off if he starts again next year.

Bah, always manage to miss this, what's plato done again? I remember him whinging about the Honda's being too fast with the turbos early in the season, have they honda's gone downhill?

BTCC seems so bogged down by rules, miss the supertouring years.

I find Plato/Neal almost as bad as each other, even though they are excellent drivers, although since Neal's pit antics at Rockingham I think he has dropped down my list just that bit further. Frustration maybe, but threats of violence are way beyond acceptable. Did he get any penalties for that?

Thing is, despite all the Plato moaning, does he have a point? I don't follow BTCC endlessly but it did seem at the beginning of the season that the turbo cars had way too much of an advantage over the others? What are the rules giving the engine options? i always thought BTCC had pretty similar specs for each team to use in terms of total power, engine spec etc?

AFAIK the cars are split between the old 2.0 NA 'S2000' Spec and the new WTCC spec 1.6 litre turbo engines?

They should just force everybody on the to the new WTCC spec 1.6 turbo engines and be done with it IMO. Put an end to the debate and arguments about weight penalities etc..

Yep, there is meant to be parity between the cars. They will never be identical but they got it so wrong at the start of the season it was funny.

No. The BTCC is moving to a new spec called NGTC in order to try and reduce costs and attract more privateer runners to the series. There is extensive use of standardised parts and the NGTC engine is a 2.0 turbo. The manufacturer can either make their own or use a standard TOCA badged engine supplied by Swindon at a fixed price.

The performance issues have occured from a compromise that allows the teams to run NGTC engines in an existing S2000 chassis to help ease into the new rules for (I think) 2013.

BTCC NGTC will be a completely different formula from the WTCC. The Swedish series is also moving across to NGTC rules as well.

Yes he and Neal both got fines and points. Plato deserved his just as much as Neal for swearing at him, Neal deserved his for reacting.

If Plato gets the title it'll be undeserved. Although I'm not a Honda fan, they've got a great car this year which was developed to fall within the rules at the beginning of the season.

I used to be a Plato fan, as I expect a lot of people were.

As I have always said, its not Platos complaining on its own that annoys me, its the fact the Chevvy teams had the option to go to Turbo engines, chose not too, and then complained about it.

On paper the NGTC regulations are epic. Cheap cars and a massive field of varied models, and the 4.4.m minimum length means the return of 4 door saloons!

Hoping Flash can take the title but more likely be Neal if moaner Plato does not get them to run with 3 wheels or something.

The tyres on the Honda punctured in race 1 due to the sidewalls collapsing, not because of a brush with a kerb, or debris, but because of the weight of the cars.

This is on both Honda's.

I was on track at 1pm BTW. :)

Didn't see you! But I was out wandering then, didn't want to see the numerours hondas of questionable taste or the diesels driving very slowly :P

I was second from the back, and made sure I had plenty of room between me and the car in front for most of it. I went down Paddock at full pelt as well as some of the back sections.

Thanks for the clarification

To amend my original statement, the compromise was a daft idea, and they should just have given everybody a set time frame (e.g. 2 years) and all switched to the NGTC regs at once instead of this silly phasing period.

I think TOCA were scared of only getting eight car grids in this economic climate hence the compromise. They've currently got four rule sets running concurrently at the moment. There's the S2000, S2000+NGTC engine, full NGTC cars and even the old 2001-era BTC cars. There is a sole BTC car running...

Thing is, the current compromise is just alienating fans.

They would have been better to force a start date, but given the teams 2 years to prepare for the changes, and possibly even helped pay for test days etc.. to help them switch.

As already said, this runs the risk of empty grids as people don't bother running an old spec car as its redundant, yet cant run a new spec car as they aren't allowed.

I think the attempts to get the cars equal at the start of the season failed, and they have been fiddling with it all the way through. More effort should have been made to start the season equal, and less listening and giving into Plato should have been done. I really hope Sheddon wins.
