Ah yes, you're right, they're running a TOCA NGTC engine at Silverstone to evaluate the care before they develop their own engine over the winter.

Amen to that. It's a shame that the STCC (Scandinavian Touring Car Championship - a great series) is being massacred next year by a few breakaway teams who don't like the idea of NGTC regulations, I think they have fantastic potential.
I did not know this. Any details on why they are breaking away? Are they breaking away to form their own championship, or are they just leaving touring car racing out of spite?
Not going, but will be very interested to see who is going to win it. Once again we have a few contenders in with a shout, rather than the usual one/two horse race like most other sports.

Nope. There's a huge parking lot there now, right by the old pits. There may be a new car park near the new pits now though - not been since the redevelopment.
Should be plenty of space on BTCC day. Especially if you're planning to get there for the first race.
They're breaking away to form their own championship called the TTA. Volvo, Flash Engineering and a couple of others who escape me at the moment are behind it. Apparently they want to provide the best for Touring Car fans in Scandinavia, but have created a series that uses silhouette vehicles based on the Solution-F concept used in Belgium. Great cars, but not Touring Cars by any stretch of the imagination. There's a lot of info on touringcartimes if you're interested. The STCC will still be around, but it's really been sliced and diced by this.
On the subject of BTCC finals day, I hope Shedden wins too. Both Neal and Plato haven't exactly been endearing this season to say the least.

This is a shock. I was under the impression that BMW were blocking any team putting a turbo engine into the BMW chassis. I asusme this is no longer the case.
I also assume this is a straight S2000 chassis running an NGTC engine, much like Hondas, Vectras, etc.

I've never really watched BTCC before, and only watched the last 4/5 races, I'm definitely going to watch the whole lot next year, such good, proper racing!
Hopefully they'll sort out the power differential between the turbo and n/a cars tho.
Oh, and maybe sort their tyres out??
