I've had the Honor Magic V3 in my basket about 3 times now but can't seem to pull the trigger on it. I've got so used to monthly updates and Pixel OS and losing that is putting me off, most of the really good reviews also appear to be 'sponsored' too, not a huge amount of real world thoughts on it. Even the Reddit sub is quiet compared to the Pixel Fold etc.
It's such a good looking device though!
Check out reviews of the V2.
I got my V3 today, trading in my V2, and honestly, there's very little difference between this and the V2.
It has wireless charging.
It is water and dust resistant
The camera is a bit better, and the camera bump is now in the centre.
The lovely leather back of the V2 has been swapped out for plastic.
The bundled case now covers the front of the device as well as the back, offering more protection but getting in the way of gesture navigation.
The kickstand is now a ring around the camera, as the kickstand placement on the V2 case would be in the way of the wireless charging coil.
It's thinner and lighter than the V2 (but by so little that it's not obvious even when you have both devices side-by-side).
Aside from that, it's basically a V2. The front screen is the same. The inner screen is the same. The overall shape of the phone and the bezels are the same. The software is the same (vastly improved compared to the V2 launch). The V3 has a faster chipset & less RAM, but I'm not noticing any difference in performance (good or bad). And it's supposedly more "rugged" (time will tell - there is no way I'm testing this!). The V3 is nothing more than a refinement of the V2. And that's fine, as the V2 was already a very good phone.
The only reason I upgraded was for the wireless charging in all honesty. Yes, it is an excessive upgrade. But in total, I've spent £2,700 on these two phones & received £1,950 in trade-ins plus headphones which I've sold for £350-£400 (once I sell the ones that come with the V3), for a total outlay of £350-£400.
