***The Official Conroe Overclocking Thread ***

My 6600 will be here tommorrow and I will be testing it with my DS4 & P5W DH. Key area's of the testing will be Max FSB on both boards. I have been pretty unimpressed with the P5W DH with my 6300 ( About 400 FSB compared to 515 on a DS4) and I'm hoping this will change with the 6600.

ive not seen much more than 450 1:1 on the DH,

mind you ive not seen anyone using the 2mb'ers on the DH though

I was hoping it would go higher. Cant see why there should be any difference between what is essentially exactly the same chip apart from the cache. Lovely looking quality board though

E6700 with Asus p5w dh, over clocked to 3.2GHz with stock voltage, run very cool on air. having trouble getting it to go any faster, temps are fine but i couldn't up the voltage unless i turned off TM2 and EIST, crancked upto 1.4125v in the bios, vista booted but ran v.slow and xp crashed. will try more voltage when i get home as its only hitting 38c in the bios @ 3.5GHz, with 1.4125v

anyone worked out how much voltage the mch needs for each fsb ? i've already upped it to 1.55v, how about fsb termination voltage ? or any other settings i need to up to get the fsb ramping higher.

801 bios btw, is it worth trying the 901 beta ?

im using the new 903 bios 28/07/06, god knows what it does over the 901, but its newer :D

you might need to up the mch higher, ive been running mine @ 1.65 since day one, it does help with the fsb

got my "filler" 6300 this morning at 8 am, had to look at it in its box all day till I could get home to install it. currently running 433 with default volts in my P5W DH

think I've messed up the bios now tho as the c1E and cpu volts only give me "auto" option now :(, read about this in another forum so a bios re-flash should sort it

3.04 on default volts from a 1.86 chip is pretty impressive, and gets me a sub 20s superpi 1 meg with my 5300 running via divider

I should also add the 6300 chip ran no probs on my board, which had 701 bios on it, when it arrived over a week ago :)

Thanks, its just a swiftech apex w/c kit though it is good.

Gonna try and squeeze a 4.0GHz duel prime now the weather has gone a bit cooler.

I have got it to boot @ 3.2 Ghz on my E6600 Stepping 6 , B2 all stock voltage etc most bios items on Auto on my P5W DH but it rebooted after 2 mins of dual priming, im assuming not enough juice.

What is the normal stock VCore of the E6600 ? 1.30 or 1.35 ?

Try these:

Vmch - 1.65v
PCI - 33 Mhz
PCI-E - 105+ (worth trying when you go over 400 FSB)

Mine was prime stable upto 3.37 Ghz on default vcore, which is 1.225 i think, so you may not need any extra juice just yet.
Im not sure what Ram you have but i would run it on the 4:3 divider for now, i,e if you are running say 355 FSB you can set the ram to 533 (355/4 *3 * 2)

Im running on Cosair XMS Pros PC2-6400 on 5-5-5-12 , im trying to run the ram at the closest option to ddr2-800 , ie on 333FSB im running 833 Mhz.

What u recommend mate

Thanks in advance
