If you are running 400 FSB and the ram at 800 mhz then this is 1:1

Download CPU-Z it will tell you all the setting about your rig.

I got my 6300 to 2.33ghz with DDR2-667 on DS4 without even trying - not stock cooler but a crappy Speeze with very quiet fan that runs at 900 rpm or less - with CPU floating about the 30 degrees mark.

'Only' get 24.5 on SuperPi 1M with that, but I should be able to push it a bit higher with the Geil Ultra DDR2-800 and ThermalTake Big Typhoon that OcUK are currently shipping to me :D
 
what do people reckon is the mamimum "safe" voltage to put through an E6300 on air?

Want to clock mine higher, but don't want to kill the chip.

With a 6600, if your looking to clock higher than 3.6Ghz 400FSB then go with the Asus. If not, then get the cheaper DS3 or 4.

At work at the moment but as soon as mate... I'm off Thursday agian to do uni work but if I cant get lots done before thursday then I will be right there :)

About to order my conroe system although awaiting the arrival of the x1950 and just have a few queries i still need answering.

nah basically the same board with a few extras BUT I suppose that it has better heat dispersion as it has that silentpipe technology but I cant see that making too much of a difference tbh...

To be honest I would go for the Gskill HZ RAM as it seems to be RAM of choice at the moment... I have it and it works a dream with the Gigabyte board...
