***The Official Core i7 Overclocking Thread***

I am using the new EK Supreme i7 waterblock and my max load temps are about 70 degrees.

That was a sidebar I made up myself using some software I got from a site.

When I find link will post to it. You can add hard drives, show diffrent graphs, change colours, text, etc. Basically shows all the main computer stuff running.

Need to actually alter it as it should be able to show 8 cores running.

They are really nice temps!

Mine are hitting mid 70's to 80 under full load at 3.8Ghz watercooled...

Very impressed fornowagain!

You might want to try a more recent Realtemp, I have a feeling yours is using a 95C Tjmax (under reading).

RealTemp 2.90 RC2

BTW, my first prime with a 940 + Gigabyte Extreme. Its an external radbox (see sig), ambient is only 7C before anyone asks. Loads to do yet, looking ok so far.

Those temps are amazing, Are you running chilled water ?

Nice voltage also. :)

Can you post all your settings pls mate?

Are you on air? Mines a radbox with access to the cold air air outside. Not that good tbh, damn these things are hot. It would be nearer 70C with a 20C ambient and my X2 in the loop. Btw, thats on an EK Supreme, 2xPA120.3 and lot of flow.

Yeah i'm 20c ambient and my temps are 70 ish but im running HT disabled. And thats with a 965 with more voltage, I musta got a duff chip :(

I'm trying that 21 muliplier idea, Running prime atm, so far so good.

21x200 4.2ghz 1.440 cpu volts, max temp 67c ambient room temp 21c.

Still though, HT disabled.

Also read a few posts on extreme systems and most people are getting the same speeds from 920's as the fools like me who bought the EE chips. I'm really not impressed with performance so far but if I could get a stable 24/7 @ 4.2ghz I'd be happy. :)

Very similar set up to yourself, triple rad, same cpu block, cooling cpu only.
You're not going to do a lot better with the current 775 blocks, maybe they'll develop something better for 1366. Have you tried different orientations for the EK, they can be very picky with the mounts. The current wisdom says the best temps come from a horizontal inlet-outlet. Even then, you may find turning it around 180, so the supreme writing is upside down can gain several degrees, very odd block.

I have to be honest, I don't see the point of no HT. I'd rather have the extra 4 threads and 200Mhz less on the clock. But then if you're gaming it may be quicker with HT off. Makes a hell of difference to the temps. Funny you should mention the EE performance, I was just reading one guy who sent his 965 back for a 920 and got the exact same overclock, go figure.

These settings seem to be very stable. Thats prime run for the first hour and lots of other things at the same time.

21x200 4.2ghz 1.440 cpu volts.

I'll run it overnight to confirm stability and report back if I get a crash.
