Do you do any 3D modeling? Would love to now what its like as a work monitor.
From all what I've read, the curve is not the best for this kind of work. The curve throws the eye off when it comes to straight edges and the precision required. It's essentially an 'entertainment' monitor, ideally suited for gaming/film immersion.

Thanks. Good to know.

Well first impressions are....it ooozes quality.... just getting it out of the box....the stand is heavy and seems so robust as does the actual Monitor....heavier than i thought.

When i first fired it up, it was all about the bleed, which you cant blame me as ive just sent x2 LGs back......Apart from a little edge light bleed from the Top left corner it is looking good......done a pixel check which was fine, and then loaded up the software which is similar to the LG software.

Will give it a good going over tomorrow as i have nightshift tonight.....but first impressions.....it's a winner. :)

Sorry about the crap pics....just used my compact.

Nice! :D Glad to hear you got a good one and can finally start enjoying a monitor without the RMA's hanging over your head.

I've not even loaded up the software for it but may do that tonight. It's by far the best upgrade/purchase I've made in a long time.

Looks like this is the one for me! Will have to wait until April before the funds are available though :(

Awesome looking screen. Plus Dells dead pixel guarantee and great service. Also connectivity wise I believe the LG only has one DP input and a HDMI that isn't 2.0. So unless you've got thunderbolt devices you've had it.

This with DP and mini DP (adapters are cheap) and HDMI 2.0 is effectively 3 inputs vs. 1 on the LG. No brainer for me :)

Is HDMI ideal for this monitor as I vague recall people writing HDMI 2.0 is hassle free for this resolution @ 60Hz, whereas DP has power sleep/waking issues?

I think the DP issue was just relating to nvidia 9xx series cards and I think it may have been resolved now. I could be wrong however I'm using DP with this monitor along with two 970's and haven't experienced any problems....thus far.

I thought you had to use DP to get 60hz as HDMI is only 30hz?

Well after further testing i can see bleed in all 4 corners of the screen but only if the image is black and has a bright light source in the middle of the screen.....like in the film gravity at the beginning where whats her face is tumbling through space and shes in the middle of the screen and everything else is black.....but it is minimal so im happy with that. :)

The other thing is my monitor sits on a desk that has a step up plinth which is higher than my keyboard and mouse.
I sit sort of looking up at a slight angle at the Monitor screen.....you can tilt the screen about 10 degrees forward which is ideal, but when you let go of it after you have pushed the bottom of the panel to make it tilt it slowly straightens up to where it is straight on again?

I have fixed this by measuring the gap when tilted forward and cut a unused pencil and then taped it up and wedged it in.

And what is that button on the back of the panel for....is that a release mechanism for the stand?

Yeah, if it's like their other widescreen monitors it releases the screen from the mount. Press the button, angle the bottom of the screen away from the mount, and then lift the screen up.

Thanks for posting info up guys, I am really looking forward to getting mine now.

Anyone care to do a video review? There is one up on YT but wouldn't mind seeing a few peoples opinions in video :)

Also, much as I like Overclockers I've bought stuff from them for years, their pricing on this monitor seems over the top, I ordered one last night elsewhere for £136 cheaper! Why is it so expensive here?

If we take hypotheticals :P

Company E has a Christmas picture showing all the lovely CS girls in front of a scoreboard of how successful each has been in refusing RMAs.
Company D acts as a virtual store for 2 large distribution warehouses. A DSR gets initialled by person A, passed to person B at the warehouse, awaiting checking on received goods by person C to be signed of in a queue for person D or tldr about 28 days without your money from request.
Company S gives you a bill for DSR returns when your opinions of 'reasonably' opened and inspected packaging are challenged. Should you complain, you are forwarded to the legal team, if escalated, a solicitors charge is added to the bill.

I once met (in the '90s) a yuppie IBM exec who explained to me the then new concepts of 'Peace of Mind' and 'Total Cost of Ownership'.

The above I understand is borderline talking about other companies, but hopefully it can be pardoned as it can explain ONE of the ways OCUK is a better retailer than the others.

Plus if the cost is too high - wait for a deal of the day offers. Usually the pricing is then competitive to E or D or S, plus you get better service.

Makes me sound like a stupid fanboi, apologies given. When I was in the industry, selling to OCUK was hard work, but being a customer is an inverse pleasure.

Has anyone seen a decent review of gaming experience on ultrawide vs triple screen surround/eyefinity?

I had x3 22" eyefinity set up years ago and couldn't get away with the bezels splitting the screen up.....now i have this 34" Curved super widescreen in front of me and it's just heaven.......only played Advanced warfare so far and its brilliant.....will load up need for speed later and see how that is. :)

Well... I have both setups

a triple 24 inch setup with the new 2415 Dell units...

And to be honest with you... i keep going back to that vs my u3415w.

I guess it depends what your doing...

I'm into ED at the mo... so my triple at the moment wins... the Bezels on the 2415's are tiny!

Are you that guy giving voice commands to ED in that video?

I just don't see the need to have anything wider than 34" unless your sitting far away from the monitor....plus some games you can set the FOV wider if your not happy with the view.

Each to there own, but i think bezels look naff, but that's just my OCD kicking in i suppose as i like things perfect.
