Bloody hell....thats worse than both of the LGs i had...... thats more glow than edge bleed, but thats the worst i have ever seen and ive seen a few panels on different forums.

The good thing about buying Dell is you will be looked after as their after sales is the best out there. :)

I am guessing it doesn't make a lot of difference if I didn't buy the monitor direct from Dell the warranty should be all the same.

To be fair the pictures in light might be a bit over saturated but if you look at the corners carefully you can still see the issue.

Posted on there forum but still no reply from dell.

This guy here has posted a review where he claims that the bleed can be reduced by installing the Dell Display Manager application?

Mine's still stating delivery is overdue so not sure when I'll get it. Mulled over cancelling it and getting a 27" 1440p display but I really want 34" 21:9 to replace my dual monitors so will probably see the order through.

I contemplated switching to an AOC 34" but most reviews seem to suggest the flat LG panel is as and possibly more likely to suffer from backlight bleed than the curved version. Plus I, perhaps foolishly judging by some posts on this thread!, feel more comfortable sticking with Dell's support and 3 year warranty than chancing another manufacturer.

What's the general impression of everyone who's bought one so far? Worth sticking with? Is the bleed noticeable in daylight/with the lights or only at night in the dark? I already have a 20" IPS 16:9 display and can't say I've ever noticed any kind of IPS bleed/glow on it unless I view it in the dark using a camera? It looks OK in RL but is similar to some of the above images in the camera photos (especially if you take the photo at an angle rather than pointing straight at the monitor). It's is a lot smaller than a 34" 21:9 though so I can imagine the backlight may well be more noticeable on a larger panel?

I've read a million reviews and user comments from multiple forums, and it's really a crap shoot. Some people are very happy, others are livid. It baffles me how the QC on these panels is so bad, and some are leaving the factory perfect, while others are not fit for purpose. It's like they build and chuck them in a box without even turning them on!

Personally, I have decided not to go through the hassle. I really wanted to go 21:9 1440p, but I'm just not sold on this current crop of monitors. The upcoming Acer Predator XR341CK looks very interesting, so I'm eager to see how that turns out, but for now I'm sticking with my 27" 1440p IPS display... and there are several very good monitors you could opt for that aren't that expensive in this bracket, such as the AOC Q2770PQU or Samsung 27D850D or S27A850TS.

I'm sold on the idea of a 34" 3440x1440 monitor and the Dell seems like the least risky option at the moment judging from forum feedback and reviews so will stick with it for now I think.

If that doesn't work out I'll wait for the Acer XR341CK. If I bought a 16:9 1440p monitor I'd only end up wanting to change it in another 6 months time!

If you get a good panel I think it's a good choice... IF being the operative word there though, and if you do get a bad one, hopefully you won't have any hassle returning it. Dell are USUALLY pretty good in that regard, although I have read some people have encountered issues with them not recognising bleed as a fault... which is just ridiculous of course.

@MoRT489 Dell has a zero BRIGHT pixel policy, not dead. Dead have to be 6 or more. Backlight bleed is not recognised as a defect, at least that's what they told me before buying. http://www.dell.com/support/article/hk/en/hkbsd1/414288?c=hk&s=bsd&cs=hkbsd1&l=en

They offer a collect service for replacements, not DSR. If your replacement is even worse, and Dell refuses to replace again, you're stuck with DSR. That is if DSR doesn't expire, I'm not sure that if they send a replacement the DSR period resets, maybe someone knows?

Rubbing method is detailed here http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-l...leed-fix-lcd-tvs-monitors-w-disclaimer-4.html, since it doesn't bother me that much I didn't want to risk damaging it or making the bleed even worse, but you can try it as a last resort before returning.

Silvagti, it's only visible at night in a dark room on black 100%. Just taken a look at it now during the day with the curtains closed and I struggle to notice it, I can barely see something in the upper left corner but only because I know it's there.

Thanks for the info. It's good to know as you see all these pics in worst case scenarios and start to worry it'll look like that all the time!

I went from my Qnix 27" 2560x1440 to the 34" 3440x1440 and i was like OMG!!.....then sent it back and went back to the qnix for a week and then again to the 34" LG and then back again to the qnix and now to the Dell.

Every time i went back to the Qnix (which is a great panel btw) it made me miss the super widescreen and my Qnix looked lost on my desk lol.

Once you go super widescreen theres no going back....it's just a pity that they haven't got their act together regarding quality control.....another thing to consider is they have sold 100s if not thousands of these and only a handful are complaining....is it because we were unlucky or to picky and others just dont see it or are not arsed?

Well, I'm going to search for a new monitor, as I just received an email saying that they are now delayed till February 6th, that 4 times the dates changed for me. So I'm going to cancel and hunt or wait for something else, I have hooked my rig to a 40" tv. As a stop gap measure.

Annoyingly my supplier has changed to the same date

Gonna stick with the order until then though as I really have my heart set on a 1440p 34" 21:9. Several other sites are also stating early February as an ETA for hopefully it'll prove to be right. The only other monitor that's caught my eye is the Samsung 34" 21:9 model so if Dell keep dragging their heels I might contemplate that in it's place if the review and feedback are favourable.

Kind of annoyed as my PC arrived yesterday so I'm now running a 23" 1080p monitor using two Geforce 980's in 2-way SLI :D

I have a feeling, that the monitors won't appear in numbers till March, as quoted on dell website. Even if shops knew that, they would not say anything, as more preorders would be cancelled. I find it funny that the original price I paid has increased so much too, considering there no stock about.

Well the place i got mine have 2 in stock?.....and cheapest anywhere....had mine 3 days later......i don't understand why nobody's getting any?

I had the sammy 34 curved on order till i read the review.....washed out colours and and blurry txt compared to the LG.......so i cancelled and got the Dell. :)

Guess you must have got lucky! Did think about the Samsung but I've had good feedback about the Dell in general so sticking with my order for it. Will have a hunt and see if I can find a place that has it in stock....

Most of the usual suspects, OCUK included, are all saying overdue and/or expecting it early February?

Yeah there's been a dip in price about beginning of Jan. Dell had it in store for £880, with haggling you could get it at £780 which is what I paid. Then immediately after, you could snag it for £680 on preorder in other places, bit annoying.

Now it seems it's going back up gain.
