Well to my knowledge, here are the pros and cons of both:

Dell
+ faster response time
+ less issues with motion blur
+ awesome colour reproduction

- IPS glow
- backlight bleed, depending on your luck

Samsung
+ better blacks
+ better contrast

- worse response times
- not able to reproduce as many colours, which leads to
- ghosting issues, between 2 close shades of the same colour
- more motion blur
- worse viewing angles

Hope that helps!

Hi, I never notice on any monitors I had ghosting issues (TN and IPS) and notice Samsung more curved then dell most important to me crisp image quality sharp display. I have now lg 29 flat 2560x1080 and text not so sharp

Is the problem (and maybe all monitor Q&A at the moment which seems really poor) that they are basing the manufacturing quality on use in a lit office, but still trying to sell them as entertainment products?

How many of us game in a lit room if we can help it? I know I always try to darken the room as much as possible when watching films and gaming. If they are being sold as entertainment products, the quality in use should reflect that.

Spot on B1gbeard, a one size fits all approach doesn't work for such a large range of products as Dell has. Plus I thought they strive to be the best?

Its got to be less of a dice roll as well. If we both spend £800 on a monitor, we should expect similar quality. I'm super excited for these 21:9 monitors, but the difference in quality, even between two monitors from the same batch, is too great.

A few places are saying stock should arrive tomorrow but I have very little confidence in that as dates have slipped several times and Dell themselves are stating end of April! I'm starting to wonder what the cause of these ongoing delays is as it's not a normal situation for some people to receive their orders then supplies to dry up completely for 3-4 months...

I'm holding onto my pre-order for now but if a couple of favourable reviews appear for the Samsung 34" I'll likely switch to that instead even though it's slightly more expensive.

To be honest all of these 34" 21:9 panels seem to have issue, think I'll just keep my money until things improve.

Jeez. I'm so lucky I got a great panel with my LG 34UM95. Yes it's a flat panel but seeing the issues with others in the same range as well as the AOC and Dell curved ones makes me thank my lucky stars that I've got no back light bleed problems!
Ultrawide is amazing and I wish they could sort this out so others can enjoy it.

..but they don't. They are within the manufacturers design specifications for things like light bleed and so on.

..Its just that the knowledgeable nerds like us don't like their interpretation of what's acceptable.

..but we only make up a small minority of users, the majority of customers who buy these monitors will not make the slightest fuss because they simply don't know any better.

Personally as of right now I don't think their is a truly decent monitor to be bought anywhere ATM, they all suck for one reason or another.

I might give the samsung a go if i can get a decent price for my dell?
But then again at £839 the missus wont be happy. lol.
