OMG it's here and it's huge :)

Great news! The $64,000 question however is have Dell managed to construct it in such a way that the LG-IPS panel does not suffer the same levels of bleed as has been shown in their own models.

Please report back once you have had chance to test this! Oh and post some pictures please! :)

OK OK :)

OK here are my first impressions:

Build wise it's very good! The stand works very well with regards to supporting the weight of the panel and adjustment.

The speakers although a added bonus also work very well and is a great addon.

The monitor itself looks amazing!

There is however a slight problem with mine...
I'm comparing this vs my u2415 units. There is slight light bleeding on the top left hand side of the panel. It's more prominent when playing the Sin City DVD as it's black and white... however it's worse in the picture.

I'll give it a couple of days to see if the bleeding gets any worse in any case...

Overall color reproduction is very good however.

IT'S A DAMN HUGE BOX.

Slight light bleeding.

Playing Jack and the Giant Killer

Sin City DVD.

First attempt at calling them wasn't providing as much discount as I'd hoped for. Fingers crossed I can get someone else tomorrow who's willing to offer more.

The bleed on Jack and the Giant killer doesn't look amazing although, maybe it's my screen, but there's virtually none on the Sin City screen where I'd expect it to be at its worst. Is it just my wife's laptop here or is it pretty good on the black screen there?

Thanks

No as I said the bleed looks worse in the pictures.

Sin City as you can see the bleed in some instances.

As regards to FreeSync... there is nothing mentioned.

Sin City into as you can see it's very hard to see...

It's very difficult judging backlight bleed from pics as I've taken photos of my monitors and the backlight/glow is visible on them but not when you're actually looking at it yourself. That photo of the top left screen looks really bad but then you see the entire Sin City one and there's no visible sign of it!

How are you finding it otherwise in terms of general use in Windows and productivity? How are the scaling options on terms of fitting 16:9 content to the screen and how does it handle full screen video content like Netflix and Youtube? I take it if you run a game at 2560x1440 then it sizes perfectly only with black borders at either side?

It surprising that there aren't more reviews out there on the web for this monitor. I'd have thought Dell would have been making more of an effort to promote it at least by sending out a few review samples to the usual suspects.

Right for gaming...
Been ****ing about with Elite and Titan Fall and it's pretty damn good!

The screen size is great... although i can't help but wish I had a little bit more... (I've used triple displays for ages).

I'm not too sure If I am being just too picky about this screen but I suppose for the money you have to be.

With regards to scaling... I tried both windows 7 and 10 and it's actually fine... no problems what so ever.

Some of the older movies don't do full screen as you can see from the picture.

Sin City for example didn't fill the screen (provided black left and right bars)... but Jack The Giant killer as has no issues.

I suppose the reason why I bought the Dell rather than the LG unit is due to Dell Customer Support and Exchange service. I decided to get 5 year extended warranty with this one. Just in case things go AWOL in later years...

Also I suppose if I don't like the screen at least i know I won't have an issue returning it.

Was that sub £800 with the 5 year warranty? I think I still get a 10% discount from Dell.

How are you finding the curve compared to flat monitors. I was in my local TV store looking and curved TV and cant decide whether it's better, worse or much the same as a flat screen. The curves themselves are fairly subtle and not really that noticeable when watching TV/movies. I guess it would be more pronounced when using Windows on the desktop where where there are static images and more obvious straight lines visible?

I'd be interested to hear more about how you get on the with the screen, as I can get them for £650 inc VAT (or £700 inc with a 5 year warranty), so it's almost a no brainer.

I can feel a post Christmas spending spree :)

Using the LG - and don't have any problems with the curve on desktop stuff. Coming from a 24 inch 1200p dell it's taking more getting used to the higher dpi rate/lower pixel size than the curve. :D

The curve doesn't create any distortion (especially vertically) and you get used to it very quickly. Kind of reminds me of the slight (outward) curve of a CRT near flat widecreen tv from a few years back, and we managed fine with those. :)

Ok you can't drop that into a thread with people considering buying this without some more info... :p
