*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Reviews do put it down a little.
Theirs just no way I could see people playing it in a year, let alone something like 10 they talked about.

But then most of the advertising was false, so is the 10 year thing I bet.

the advertising wasn't false imo.

the game wont last 10 years in its current form, but they will be adding new content all the time. it will last however long you want it to.

depends whether or not you enjoy grinding for gear.

From what I have seen, and from what I was shown or led to believe in the Ads, are very different.

I imagine once they ditch the last gen and make this soley a current hardware franchise, it may come through on some of the more ambitious ideas of an 'mmo'. This may be held back currently as it has to function as it does on all 4 systems limiting what they can do

Lol and here come the false advertising claims again. Every big release it's the same thing. A few people get suckered into buying a game by hype and instead of blaming themselves start blaming everything else. It was the same with Watch Dogs.

well what i experience in game is exactly what i saw in the ads / was expecting.

get 2 friends, shoot some aliens, have fun.

A huge world and worlds you could go exploring and find things, stumbling on line interactive multiplayers.

A crazy bigger than you story, not some random cut scene mis mash that doesn't really have an ending.

Not walking lots of similar empty corridors, getting to a semi open space in the building, fighting some of the usual "enemies" get uplock, go back to my ship that I have no control over really.

Do that again...do that again....do that again...listen to Dink count his voice over money....do it again.

False advertising is wrong, I take that back, just mis lead, and stupidly over hyped. I was worried with the over relience of them saying ( Halo, Bungie etc)

Question.. most of the weapons seem to have the ability to be upgraded.. but I can't find out how to upgrade them.. do I have to speak to someone in the tower?

I'm level 14 now and tbh I'm really enjoying it. I play for about an hour at a time and this stops it getting too repetitive. Joining up with a few others for a mission is great fun and rewarding when you do it.

This exactly. The game for me is much more fun in a group of players, if your doing the story missions choose the hard/very hard option and it seems like a decent challenge, likewise the strikes are proper fun.

here's a question for you guys:
can you level up "crucible" equipment through PvE?
i have a crucible fusion rifle equipped, but it doesn't seem to be gaining any exp from lvl 22 strikes??? my PvE gear is unlocking skills fine however.

This is getting slaughtered by reviewers. 6/10 at Escapist, IGN, GS, GB, Polygon (the only one I really pay any attention to usually).

I've played it for a couple of hours and while it does look good and the gunplay is fine, the characters all have the personality of a piece of cheddar cheese and the levelling-up/loot all feels a bit sparse.

All my friends are playing this non stop at the moment, but no matter how many videos I watch it just doesn't seem to make me want it. When price drops more I might try it, genuinely not fussed by it. Too much hype it seems.

When treasure chests are found and opened, is that it or do they re-fill for when I do another mission/quest on the same map?

Also where is the option to choose difficulty.

cheers

I bit the bullet and bought it, felt it was unfair to judge without playing properly. I'm a level 10 hunter and whilst the game is a bit "samey" I'm actually really enjoying it. I love grinding for levels, we'll see if I lose interest when I hit the soft level cap.

what do you find easiest to to level up, patrols? raids?

I'm still only level 5, seems to be taking ages!, I dont want to rush the story missions either.

Bearing in mind this is a game in progress for 6 years and the budget it had.

Now they are talking about the problems with the Voiceovers being all of the place sound level wise etc, saying they can make these kinds of hiccups.
No, sorry, thats pure BS, no way would a half way production ship out the actual voicers in a mess.

following the campaign whilst completing "bounties" from the NPC in the tower (unlocked at lvl 4) is the easiest way to level up.

if you are ever below the level of the next mission available to you, then do the "patrol" option to complete a few extra missions and level up.

raids are end game content for max lvl players with high lvl gear.
