*** The Official Diablo III Thread ***

I don't know any reason why you would.

Was this in reply to my question?

If so i just thought thhis season thing was a good place to make a fresh start rather than start a normal char now and then restart the game next week when the season starts? Or can you make a normal character into a season character?

Not really sure.

Ta!

I have started a wizard on the trial before the game arrived

Man, so many choices of what to roll in S5. Probably end up playing a few but I might go with a Barb this season as "main" as I've never really put any considerable time into one. Just really hate FC and I hope that doesn't end up being the go-to build for solo.

FC does seem to be a love or hate spec. I personally love it, and at the moment it looks like it is going to be the top spec for Barbs this season. Always a little hard to tell though.

You can now rebirth a normal character into a Seasonal character. The character will be moved into the season, but will be set back to level one, and all of your old gear will be mailed back into normal mode.

-Char becomes a lvl 1 seasonal char but retains the hours played and the name.
-All paragon levels are lost.
-All gear is mailed to your non season chars. You have 30 days to get it out of the the mail and stash it.

This feature is designed for those who grow attached to their char and do not want to delete one each season.

Anyone want to group up on Friday to level up? I'll be joining the ocuk clan whenever I can (don't even know the name yet so can't put in a request) but plan on playing Friday afternoon and most of Saturday too.

ah ok fair enough. so say i only get a normal char to level 20 and then want to start the season, i wont really see any benefit over just restarting again. thinking i may just wait as any time played now may feel a bit of a waste

Yeah does seem to be the top spec for them, at least for now. Probably end up going Crusader instead.

Correct :D It's so blindingly easy to level up anyway you should really have no issues at all making a new one if you only have a level 20 character.

Had a quick go on hardcore last night. I have a level 70 barb at about 60 paragon I have not played in quite some time. He is about Torment 1 level, and my gosh is it slow going. Not many legendaries dropping, short on crafting materials, short on cash, short on gems.

It is a very different experience to a well geared character on softcore. Should be good fun to get him ready for higher torments though.

i need to learn the cube and features etc Didnt play a awful lot last season so a bit to learn before i get back into it.

I play hardcore and yes it is very different... much much slower but much more rewarding and exciting imo. It is all too easy in SC to hit 70 and go straight into a t8 game and run about picking up items.

HC you have to go slow, but every drop feels that much more important and as you progress you eventually build up the courage to dip your toe in a higher torment - It gives the game much more longevity but is soul destroying when you die haha.

The seasonal set reward will help with gearing now so wont be as slow but still..

I wonder if you get the seasonal award for HC and SC characters (ie one for both types). Season 4 was my first time doing an HC character (as you needed one for the Season Journey) and I actually swapped to HC full time after doing the journey as it was just so much more rewarding. My main problem was learning to be more cautious when I first started playing HC.
Was gutted when I lost my Paragon 400 monk due to being too ambitious.. I also lost a couple of characters to disconnects which was really annoying.

Not sure what class I'm going to play yet - I've been messing around on the PTR but it's all too easy there so you don't get a good feel feel for how the classes really play (like my PTR wizard can just spam disintegrate without having to dodge mobs or get out of fire. I was convinced I'd go monk (only played one HC) but I'm really tempted to go Wizard as I haven't played one since Season 1.

Anyway I'll definitely be playing Friday night / weekend (typically there's only me and Sharpy playing anyway but I guess that'll change for the next week or so.

Yeah, losing a character to a disconnect must be rough. I have not had that happen since I tried hardcore back in vanilla D3.

The start of the season is usually pretty busy in clan, I did want to play a lot more last season but work and family have been taking up a lot of my time recently. Still, I am hoping to get some good play time in at the start of this season.

Roll on Friday already.
