You can manually dock fairly quickly in ED though.

I expect it will still get very tedious especially with bigger ships.
You could also dock fairly easily in the others, it still got to a point it was a boring part of the game.
Obviously I haven't played ED. But I doubt I will want to be docking manually for the 150000 time. Unless the auto docking is so gimped you have no choice.

Anyone got a really good config for the Thrustmaster X, Doesn't seem to be enough buttons for everything.

Be good to see how everyone else has it set up.

I've not tried playing with modifiers but when i used to play DCS A10 on a stick with just 1 hat I had like 5 modifiers for that 1 hat.

Hat = look around
LShift + Hat = weapons
Rshift + Hat = Map
Alt + Shift + hat = sometihng else.

you get the idea, modifiers can really expand a limited supply of buttons into an abundance. I'm not sure how well Elite can map controls in such a complex way but its something worth looking into.

Elite has very good support for modifiers. In the control mapping, when you go to assign a control, just hold the modifier and the target button. IIRC it can support 4 or 5 simultaneous buttons.

well there you have it, this turns a budget stick into a beast right there.

It's slow and clearly needing tweaked, flies like a 90 year old trying to smoke his pipe and kicking his slippers off :)

Docking in the game is more fun than before, space ports are typically busy with the latest update and people can and do bump into each other, imaging coming into a busy supermarket car park at 70MPH and meeting 10 others doing the same.

I'd like to see some variation in the dock types, I know there are of course different skins, but layout remains the same. the station doorways are the same too. Some variation in size, or making larger ships dock to some kind of boom like an aeroplane does would be cool.

Beta 1.1 (worked ok before) starts up to the menu screen then I've got the sound as if your selecting a menu option repeated constantly and selecting an option does nothing, happened both times I tried, not got time at the moment to look deeper into it.

Would you let me know when you find a fix for this? I've looked and tried everything. Game is unplayable due to this at the mo.

If you've got a microphone then I'd suggest getting the 'Voice Attack' speech recognition program. I've combined that with my Thrustmaster and it's brilliant...

Am I missing anything here
https://store.zaonce.net/elite-dangerous-cat.html

£35 to buy the game digitally direct from the developer.
£50 to buy the game digitally direct from the developer & play the beta now.

So they want £15 more for me to help them test/qa the finished product saving them a lot of time/money in the process increasing their profit margin

Surely less money to buy now & help test not more :(

This is the case for 90% of games now? It's nothing new to pay more to play early (in beta/alpha).

There are additional costs to them if you pay now, yes they get another player theoretically helping test it but you might be playing for a year before release.. not bad value IMO
