Spent my first proper time with this yesterday took an age to set up my X52 and voice attack the way I wanted but my God it was worth it!

Although I'm actually useless at combat, I can't even get past the training missions. My tactic in game is to run away which is working so far :D

I really don't like the atmospheric flight model in this game :( Just can't get to grips with it at all... I do like everything else though :)

So was flying out the station and noticed some cargo floating around, had some space so decided to try and scoop it up. As soon as I had targeted the cargo, blam! I got destroyed by the station.. It actually said destroyed by Chango station... Is this a random one off or are you not allowed to scoop near a station?

I had that happen to me too, I'm assuming it's the station scanning you and seeing a wanted tag. It's daft that picking up ANY cargo gives you a wanted level regardless of whether you committed a crime or the goods were actually stolen!

Oh now that is wierd, I actually had to scoop the cargo up, think i was onto my second on before anyone opened fire, probably after a scan - although it happened rather fast!

You can, but ANY cans you pick up are automatically marked as stolen as soon as you collect them. Because they are registered to the ship that originally bought them (this cannot be changed). If the station scans you and sees them it will get angry.

Any cargo you scoop is labelled as stolen (I found this out the hard way). If you get scanned you'll get blown up, if you managed to get docked with it (eg in an Anarchy system) you have to sell it via the black market contact not the commodity market.

Question is though is this intentional or a bug?

I would say intentional, to try and stop people getting ganked by one player. And his friend getting the cargo and selling it.

I'm guessing that it's intentional, at the end of the day if you didn't buy it then you're nicking it :p That could have been my cargo spilled all over after a nasty docking incident for example, so I should get the opportunity to try and hoover it all back up. Of course filthy pirates should be allowed to try and swipe it, but if it's too close to the station then it's a bit risky right now.

I do think they should offer some mechanic whereby when grouped you can 'share' cargo rights. Me and a friend grouped up and I was ejecting gold for him to pickup to sell and it was flagging it as stolen, would be nice if it let him get it as normal cargo because we were grouped.

Still, it is only early days for the grouping mechanics, I love the ingame voice chat when grouped though, it adds a 'Radio comms' effect over your voices which is really cool.

I don't think the stolen goods mechanic has been fully implemented yet. There's stuff in the design discussion archive that talks about it -- it should be marked as stolen if it's ejected as the result of a criminal act, and only the owner or one of his allies should be able to retrieve it.

What happens in the case where it gets ejected because of carelessness or as a result of an act of justice, it isn't so clear. At the moment it's all treated as if it's stolen, but I wouldn't expect that to always be the case.

Agreed, I was reading through some of the design documents on the Frontier forums and it does seem unfinished. In my case I got the cargo from an unidentified signal which made no sense in it being stolen.

Also the crime of carrying illegal or stolen goods is intended to be a minor crime, punishable by a fine but just isn't implemented yet

anyone else having issues with voiceattack? it just doesn't understand me. Even though I I've done several windows speech recognition training.
wondering if the free clip on mic I got with headphones is just rubbish.

Have you tried listiening to yourself within windows to see how it sounds?. if it doesnt sound to great then yeah the mic will be rubbish.

I had no problems setting it up at all.....did 2 parts of the voice training in windows and have very few issues. it understands me 95% of the time.

I dont have a super fancy headset either but the mic is nice and clear

how do you do that?

and God I suck at combat. didn't realise the more throttle you have the lower your turn rate.

Blue doo-dah (technical term) on your throttle indicator is the sweet spot, found occasionally flying backwards works well too, especially when it's a not so friendly human player who's use to taking on NPCs.

Glaucus feel free to hop on our teamspeak, don't need to sign up or anything. I only found out half the stuff I know about ED from chatting to the OCUKers on there tbh.

My voice attack will sometimes pick up background noise and interpret it as 'if' which throws off the commands. If you open the application it should tell you what it thinks the commands are. Are they being interpreted totally wrong? Or is there an issue with the commands getting into Elite?

Yep utterly wrong, thing is it's not even translating the same every go. Just totally changes. No real back ground noise, using headphones and the cheap clip on Zelman mic.

Getting much better at compact against the Ai scenarios. But need voiceattack, just to many buttons otherwise.

saying "target"
and it's translating "sold it's", "contents", "of it's", "songs", "that have"

Boost it correctly translates 3/5 times.
