It's going to be tight, it'll need a big big push on the last few days. Currently needing to average £30k a day and the best single day it has managed since the first three days is 28k...

I can see this being an amazing last few days! oh and a new update from Frontier :)

The problem is the average per day keeps going up and up...it was originally 16k.... than 22k... than 27k, now its 30k.

Do hope it happens, but I cant see it :(

It's worth noting that Frontier are also collecting donations direct from their website via paypal so I'm not concerned at the moment as it's definitely picking up.

That's true but those donations cannot be included in the kickstarter...

like I said it will be an interesting last few days, plus there are lots of trolls who get a big kick out of pledging then withdrawing

Not played any Elite game before but I like the genre which has largely been dormant for a while now so pledged £20 and treating it like a pre-order.

that's not the impression I get from reading on the kickstarter comments,I don't believe anyone from Frontier has mentioned those funds, I hope I'm wrong though :)
If there's going to be a shortfall Frontier can pledge the other donations to fill the gap.

That a game like this even needs kickstarter says all sorts of bad things about the gaming industry.

Elite was a classic, i found my copy of dark wheel when i was cleaning up my folks place when the moved house and it brought back so many memories.

How much do you have to pay up early to get beta access and a copy of the game? I still dont feel good about the idea of paying for something thats doesnt exist yet, but i guess its like preorder+

£50 for second round beta, £100 for first round beta, £200 for alpha. Lots of other goodies in between. The sweet spot seems to be £85, which is a fully digital download of game, soundtrack, with your name in the naming database, beta access, free lifetime expansions and updates and lots of choices for starting scenarios.

Why would they not just encourage these donations to be part of the kickstarter in the first place?

That way it would be increasing the total, making it visible to others it's close and possibly encourage those last few pledges that might be necessary.

Apparently, quite a few countries can't access the payment methods they use on the UK Kickstarter and so are unable to pledge. I agree that it's quite dangerous to open up PayPal for donations before the Kickstarter goal has been reached.

Hi all. Absolutely LOVED Elite when I was a kid... was too young to really be any good at it but still loved it. Have been wishing for years that someone would make a new Elite.

I want to contribute but have a (possibly stupid) question about it. I saw the mention of being able to name a planet or station if you contributed a certain amount but don't see that listed as a reward for any of the options. Am I just being stupid?

Look on the proper Kickstarter website, Pledge £500 for a station, £750 for a planet and £3k for an entire system.

You can't do those things through PayPal, but you can through the main Kickstarter. £500 includes a space station, £750 includes a planet, £3000 for a star system. I think that the tiers are cumulative as well. Anything at £40 or above puts your name into the naming database for random NPC's.

Ah I see thank you very much. For some reason I made the assumption that either route would offer the same rewards. Man how I would love to have a star system named after me... how much do kidneys go for these days? :D
