Just upped my pledge to £75, and then thought screw it, I'll up it to £100 for the first round beta tests on the offchance it does reach the target.

I'm fairly convinced that even if it doesn't hit the £1.25 mil target, it'll still get made. Braben clearly stated at the start of all this that Kickstarter was also being used as a means of gauging interest in the game. I think it's been a successful run in that regard, if only mediocre in the cash target.

It will almost certainly get funded. If you use kicktraq and look at funded projects there are similarities across most projects.
Last 3days are very strong. Almost exclusively last day brings in more than the first day.

If it fell even the tiniest bit short you can bet your last 2p that Braben/Frontier would pledge the necessary amount to take it over the line.

They want that money, even if it only part funds the whole project so to gain 1.25mil for the sake of say 50k, they'd be putting their own anonymous pledge for sure.

Do hope so. First day pledge was £17k.

So you're saying the last day pledge total is going to be more than £300k when they only need £163k or so? :)

I am really tempted to up my pledge to get on the Alpha testing. But.... grr too much for a frikkin game.

Did they say anything about monthly subscriptions for this game?

Look at Star Citizen, people don't stop pledging, especially if there are stretch goals in place.

Though to be honest, the Elite stretch goal is a bit weak, I doubt they'll make much out of Mac support.

I'll be amazed if the last few days see a single daily total of anywhere near £300k though, I think a lot of people that would normally only be in for £20 are already lumping in way more than normal just to get it close to target, it's not going to have another massive surge like it had at the start.

It is a lot to pledge, particularly for the Alpha testing, but by this time next year, a lot of people who pledged the sort of money they'd usually expect to spend on a game are going to be cursing themselves and wishing they were in the game already. I'm down for the beta testing phase in January on a Founder's pledge of £150. It's a lot of money to me, but I am so excited about this remake of my favourite game, that it's worth it to me.

Let's face it, if this was some other game and you bought any DLC as soon as it was launched, you might end up paying £60 anyway. A lot of games get a sequel every year, which isn't going to happen with Elite: Dangerous. This game is going to be absolutely epic. It's not like you're going to finish it in the first week. You might even save money if it becomes the only game you play, to the exclusion of all others. Higher tier pledges get you any future DLC for free, so if you think you're going to be heavily into Elite, you could be saving money by pledging more at the outset. There aren't any monthly subscription fees by the way.

Of course, you can still get the game for a pledge of £20, so it's really a case of how much patience you've got. I can't imagine waiting until March next year, knowing that other people are already in the Elite universe. You've also got to have faith that the Frontier development team can produce a game that's worth the wait. There's plenty of early video to indicate that the game is shaping up niceley.

for this game?

I'm not saying it will happen, but that's the trend for most projects. Many other projects have had bBC and other news reports, several of the 3d printers have had this.

I am however confident you will see a large boost and easily clear the target.

Jokester, Kenai, how much have you pledged?

Absolutely sod all, I have no interest in supporting ventures like this via Kickstarter, even more so when they are established studios.

When (if) the game is released and it looks good, i'll support it then.

I have however taken an interest in this particular projects progression on Kickstarter, given it's unusual pattern of a huge spike of interest followed by a huge tail off and what looks set to be a very tight conclusion.
