Absolutely.

What are you going to call it? Jokesterville? "Mine"? Planet OcUK? :p

I eventually caved and pledged yesterday. I was really unimpressed with it at first when it really was just "Please give us some money!", but now that things like the videos are up I figured I'd join in. I'm glad to see that even the lowest projected value is now over the target, it'd be a shame for something to raise so much money and end up just a hair short. I loved Frontier II so hopefully this will be just as good if not better.

I was thinking of upgrading my £20 bid just to help out at the end, but the only option that interested me above that was the £50 2nd beta. But seeing as thats in Feb 2014 and it's released in March 2014, doesn't seem worth it (sorry, I know it sounds selfish, but I have already pledged..).

Shame really, I think they could have made a lot more money, faster, if they had some more interesting lower tiers. Seems they went a bit OTT with the £100-500-5000 levels..

The Alpha is stated as January 2013. I cant see those dates being anything other than placeholders unless they really are expecting to go from Alpha to release in two months, which would be insane. Ive ponied up for the beta and I think ill hold onto that.

Aye, just upped to 100 tears for the beta access. Really hoping this makes it. Although I can never relive that time sat gawping at the TV via the Acorn electron, I'm more than happy to invest in something, retrospectively, that gave me so many hours of enjoyment!

Its a little different to some other title development as they've been working the inhouse engine over for years which will form the backbone of it and playing with elite relevant technologies on the side. So the skeleton of the game is there its a case of fleshing it out with the real content - which is relatively more predictable timeframe wise.

I know theres some negativity in regards to the lack of proper planetary interaction planned for the intial release but to me this is a positive thing and gives me more hope for the game being worthwhile - it would delay it indefinitely trying to get the core elite style functionality/content up and running alongside trying to do compelling planetary content which is a whole game worth of effort in itself and both would suffer.

Same here. In my case it was a mates BBC Micro, and then my own Amiga for Frontier.

This game deserves to live on...

Given some of the things they've got planned, it's no surprise that things are being delayed for DLC. The whole walking around spaceports/your ship/other people's ships for one is kinda awesome, and the mechanics of spaceports will take some serious work; how many landing pads do you have, are the pads suitable for all ship types or only ships up to certain sizes, how many spaceports per planet (presumably differentiated on whether it is a core or frontier world)... really hoping it makes the funding.

Just thinking of the space stations and their docking facilities alone, there's so much scope to do things. For example, any ships up to a few hundreds of tons could dock at most stations, but what about frontier systems where they haven't the capacity to dock very large ships like the Anaconda, Panther, etc? There would have to be shuttle services there (money making opportunity?) for personnel, and transporters to unload and reload cargo (another money making opportunity?). The possibilities are endless, and if they can make things REALLY open in such a way that players can independently provide these types of services then this would be amazing.

Extend that concept to running slave markets and providing protection for narcotics deals on space stations and you can understand one of the reasons why this game carries the 'Dangerous' tagline.

The average has come down to £26k per day from £32k odd.

This will happen now. Even if no one pledged I am sure Frontier wont let this miss.

Prior to today the average over the last five days was over 34k, including today the average per day (over six days) is 33k.

I'm sure it will get funded now, the average daily pledge is significantly higher over the last week or so, and there's often a last minute surge, that might even see them hit the stretch target of £1.4m.

32, 34, 36. Point is its now lower which is great news :)

If you treat today like Boxing Day when it was lower as well, then it looks pretty good. Only needs 26K/day from now on in. From what's been said there's usually a big increase in the last 2days as people that said they were interested, but didn't pledge get reminders from KS.
