Pledged just now.

I've been mulling the project over since it first started, know a few people that pledged (some even £150+), finally decided on £42.

I was initially going to go for £20, but realised I wanted some bonuses! I'd of gone for the £82 with expansions etc, but we'll see how the game is when it's out.

I did my part and Pledged £40 to help this on it's way to target the other day.

Forgive my ignorance, but after being addicted to Freelancer and having no experience of Elite… I read in the update that 15 ships will be available at launch and maybe more if they hit a stretch target, isn't this a little bit light in comparison to other space games? I was expecting maybe 50-100 ships? I was hoping for 10+ ships in different classes like small fighters, frigates, cargo etc.

Do we know if they'll add more?

They'll continue to add ships over time I would imagine, in Frontier there were dozens of different ships you could buy from what I can remember. Hopefully additional ships won't be microtransaction based.

Well they did say that small "expnasions" will be free.
Whether this is classified as such is another question.
And if not, would these "microtransactions" be free to those who pledged for "free future expnasion"?

Very grey.

Back when the original was released in 1984 it was made by two people in their spare time - Braban and Bell. In 2013 it needs a development team and over £1m. The era of bedroom coders is way, way, way, behind us.

I think they also mean 15 playable ships at launch, there may well be models available for NPC ships that won't be playable until a later expansion.

Also worth remembering that the ships are going to have lots of options for customisation, so there will be 15 basic hulls that you can bolt all different sorts of engines, hyperdrives, weapons, cargo decks etc on to, so even though there may be only 15 ship models, the possibility for variety should still be enormous.

This could quite possibly consume my life when it comes out. I'm going to be donating but not sure how much yet. This was my first ever gaming addiction on the C64.

Hmmm, do I spend £100 to get onto the first beta?

Ah good, however sad it sounds I quite enjoyed lardy cargo ships and traversing around with a few escorts. It sounds like the kind of game where it will suit a whole range of different styles of gameplay, which means I can be a lazy cargo man and then sometimes dip into a bit of bounty hunting in a smaller ship

lets hope they don't waste any time on a interplanetary shuttle!
would love know what they had envisaged for it when they created Frontier and FFE!

AND “The Elite” are a secretive group of intrepid pilots. Throughout human space, there are a great many people that have been helped by “The Elite” over the years, and because of this “The Elite” are treated well, wherever they go. Whether it be discounts on buying special items or repairs, and the small number of founding members even greater benefits. Other benefits include a greater likelihood of being offered rare missions or opportunities. Membership is offered to pilots who have proven their ability by reaching “Elite” rating within the Pilot’s Federation, but the founding members are not put through such an indignity. All “The Elite” are entitled to display a special silver “Elite” emblem, and the founders a golden one with the word ‘Founder’ beneath it. which would normally take 6000 kills to obtain...

Important...Remember guys to get the Founders Decal addon because of you dont purchase it while the KS is active then you will not be able to visit founders world.

The £50 option looks the sweet spot to me where you take part in the second beta. The game should be fairly stable by then.

If I pledge £50 then can I increase it later today if I decide to play more or is it too late?
