The £50 option looks the sweet spot to me where you take part in the second beta. The game should be fairly stable by then.

If I pledge £50 then can I increase it later today if I decide to play more or is it too late?

Remember the game will have expansions so its worth spending atleast £80 to get all of these for free.

Brabens vision for this game can be seen in the Dev Diarys, I suggest you go and check them out to see what he has planned.

If you dont go for £80 now you may actually end up paying more than this later on for the expansions when they come out, Like extra ships, Planetary landings etc etc.

Yes but you must get it before the KS ends or you will never be able to visit founders world.

What is actually there is unknown at the moment.

I dont get this.

So if you pledge £100 already do you automatically get the founders decal or not?

It's a risk but they seem well motivated so fingers crossed.

The Duke Nukem Forever developers were well motivated too, and had a not too dissimilar desire to make the game the way they wanted to, without publisher pressure and look where that got them :p

Anyone who makes at least the £5 pledge will get a decal that will get them access to the Founder's world. You can use pledge upgrades to buy further decals for £5 each.

Exactly, so whats the point in "extra" decals? Unless you buy more than one copy of the game perhaps?

Furthermore, doesnt that make EVERYONE a founder if they play the game?
Yes, as long as they've give at least £5. The extra decals will be collectable for some people I would imagine and probably only possible to get those particular 10 as part of the KS, but others will be available (that won't give you access) for microtransactions later on.

People talk about the £150 pledge being the Founder level, but it's really just being a founder of "The Elite".

I would love to increase my pledge (currently still at £20) up to £60, but the problem then is where do you stop, as of course the £90 option then looks so tempting!

... and in over a year's time, when the game is finally released, who knows what else will be around by then?

Decisions, decisions!

£85 or more gives you the option to start in founders world, So although you can visit founders world as long as you get a decal you can only start there at £85 and above.

If you do not get a decal while the KS is running and you buy the game after say in 2014 you will never be able to visit founders world as you wasnt a founder!

If your struggling to decide i would give the £80 all future expansions for free some serious thought as it will be cheaper to do it this way now than further down the line, It will be more expensive then.

Trust me the game is going to be good! So many people will want to play it i think.

We all want it to be good but we really don't know.

Not exactly sure what the benefits of being a "founder" are, but, if its a way of accessing rare missions and possibly extra content, I would be annoyed not having it... So ive upgraded from £100->£150.

Im 33 and can remember playing Elite when it first came out with my Dad on the BBC and then again on the Amstrad CPC464. Im tempted to buy him a copy of the game, but he is now really old (60 this year) so doubt he would understand how to use a modern computer. :)

My understanding is if you're a founder of The Elite, you get all the benefits of being Elite (better trade prices/higher chance of rare missions etc) without the need to be Elite itself. You'll also get a Gold Elite badge in game, as opposed to a Silver one for someone for earned Elite status through combat alone.

That might actual put me off, getting all the rewards without putting the effort it, kinda defeats the point of this kind of game.

Agreed. Except if others can quickly afford better ships/armour/weapons then they will have an advantage in PVP.

It's looking like the sweet spot is £80 to get the upgrades and then £100 if you fancy taking part in the first beta.

So why pay the extra £50 if the decal gives you "founder of Elite".
Or have I got that wrong?

It's founder of "The Elite" rather than founder of "Elite".
£5 gets you the founders title, ability to enter the founders world etc.
£150 gets you the founder of "The Elite" title. This gives you all the benefits as if you'd reached Elite status in the game - so better trading prices, access to high level missions and the like.
