You'll also get a Gold Elite badge in game, as opposed to a Silver one for someone for earned Elite status through combat alone.
So everyone can see you bought Elite status & did not earn it, not for me thanks, I'll get it by my own blood, sweat & laser cannon!
I dislike incentives like this but I suppose they helped get the kickstarter goal so I won't hold it against them, I just won't fear them like you should fear a true Elite player.

No, you don't "buy" Elite status, you still start as Harmless like everyone else. The difference is that you get the benefits of having the Elite title, which at core seems to be preferencial treatment from traders (presumably lower buy prices / higher sell prices).

so elite will be pay to win? :p

Mmm this was what I was thinking. Sounds P2P-esque and influencing fundamentals of gameplay.
Better missions and better prices for trading are game changing compared to having more credits /different ship to start with. Not sure I like this.

It's founder of "The Elite" rather than founder of "Elite".
£5 gets you the founders title, ability to enter the founders world etc.
£150 gets you the founder of "The Elite" title. This gives you all the benefits as if you'd reached Elite status in the game - so better trading prices, access to high level missions and the like.

I am going to have to do it the old fashioned way £150 is too much for me.

This game is a long way off for me. Even when it comes out it won't be complete in the way i want and will have to wait for planet landing etc. Still i have over 100 games to finish to spend the time

Yes, as long as they've give at least £5. The extra decals will be collectable for some people I would imagine and probably only possible to get those particular 10 as part of the KS, but others will be available (that won't give you access) for microtransactions later on.

People talk about the £150 pledge being the Founder level, but it's really just being a founder of "The Elite".

I don't think this is quite right re the decals. As I read it to get the founders decal you need to have pledged £5 MORE than the minimum pledge to get whatever reward you've selected. And it's a minimum of £30. So if you go for the £30 tier, you need to pledge £35. Then once the kickstarter is finished they will contact you to ask how you want your extra £5 or whatever allocated to, eg the digital books, the founders world decal etc.

EDIT:
Actually having written all that now I'm not sure, as there's the £5 award too which is included in all the higher tier rewards which also refers to the ship decals. So maybe you can just buy extra decals for the extra £5 I was talking about above????

I would love to increase my pledge (currently still at £20) up to £60, but the problem then is where do you stop, as of course the £90 option then looks so tempting!

... and in over a year's time, when the game is finally released, who knows what else will be around by then?

Decisions, decisions!

Go for it mate, I have backed it quite highly, but I want to see those extra 10 ships as well :)

Goddamit, so close to upping the pledge again.
Said earlier I started at £20 and the moved to £42.
I'm tempted by the £80 threshold as that gets you all future updates too - but if I then go up to £90 I also get a boxed collector's edition as well.
From a £20 initial to potentially a £90. They have been extremely cleaver with their tiers.
At each level it's just "a few more quid" to add another feature and so on and on...

Might scrape the £1.5m target once Paypal Pledges are counted, though it was something like only £20k from Paypal so far.
The PayPal account will remain open after the Kickstarter ends, so even if it doesn't make the £1.5m stretch goal before the deadline, it'll hopefully still be achievable.

I think it will struggle to reach £1.5m as funding is slowing now.

This does seem the future for small publishers though.

I haven't followed many kickstarters so what can we expect in terms of trolling on the last day? Could presumably see 100k+ knocked off just before it closes I would have thought?

Can't see it being pulled because of trolling, Braben has already spoken about successful funding and there is a little article on the front page of BBC News already...

I doubt that much will be removed due to pledge trolls, looks like there was a single £3k pledge removed this morning but other than that nothing of note, so I doubt there will be much of a rush to remove joke pledges. I just hope everyones credit cards can handle the strain!

Depends whether the high profile games like this one deliver when all is said and done, if there's very little success then kickstarter will be dead as quick as it started.

The idea of special areas for kickstarter pledgers really puts me off. I don't know what it is but the idea of a limited game for everyone who doesn't pledge rankles. I was thinking of pledging until I read that, I've played games in the past with 2 tiers of player and it leaves a sour taste. I get and approve of some perks as long as they aren't entirely exclusive.
