It's not a special area, you can still get their, it's just a ton of work.
It's also not a true mmo, so makes no difference so if you want to you can just play single player.

I view the founders system as nothing more than an Easter Egg, if it turns out though that it's the only place you can get certain non-cosmetic items or weapons etc then yes it's not something I would approve of in game.

I did £90 just to get a real map to put on my wall. I remember the big blue one I got with Frontier Elite First Encounters for the Amiga 500.

Text like
Note: any Kickstarter decal-carrier will be able to travel to this secret system in gameplay
make it sound like its a private area to which normal buyers will not have access.

I thought I read some where enough could get their if you got elite, perhaps it was a suggestion.
Either way as its not an mmo, the pay to win argument is a non argument.

Upped mine to the £85 level which is as much as I can justify. Mainly because I would like to see a Mac version (as I use both Mac & PC), well that and I'd like to see the extra pilot-able ships off the bat.

There was 20 £20 slots left when I upgraded my pledge, and they gone already which is good news as it looks like it's still attracting new backers.

Why wouldn't you go £90 to get all the updates for free.

I'm sticking with 25 as much as I would love other stuff, I can't justify the money. I'll just have to work hard, to get to the outer regions.

Just upped my pledge to Founders status. Could go higher, but I'd feel very guilty about spending hundreds on "just a game". Initially, I was put off by the concept of being granted "elite" status without actually achieving it, but then I realised that it was only the privileges of that rank you were being entitled to, not the actual title itself. That would have to be earned the normal way. Furthermore, I reconciled with myself the fact that I had achieved "elite" status in the original game, so it would make sense from a roleplay perspective if my commander was born into an elite family.

I dont quite understand, is it single player with a multiplayer option or only online ?

It's a hybrid.
It's set online, however you can choose who you interact with, so you can choose to see no other real life players, see just a few friends, or go the other way and see huge numbers of real life people.
