Anyone have experience with both the X52 pro and X55? I'm in the market for a HOTAS set-up and can't decide between these two; leaning towards the X52 pro currently, but still doing reading on the X55 so might change my mind.

Got my DK2 today....mind blowing in ED! Dropped out of FSD in the corona of a star, Sparks and smoke filling cockpit, the smoke in particular looks amazing. Great to be able to stand and peer out of the cockpit. :)

Need to tweak my settings though. Have an i52500 and 2x 280x. Crossfire is a no-go, but on single card it goes from butter smooth at high settings to stutters and awful sometimes, and doesn't sort itself out until a quit and relaunch

I have been grinding like there no tomorrow to make baron for the clipper... Made it to our Lord, but honestly, the grind has reduced ed my enjoyment of it all somewhat.

By the time I get the clipper, am going to need a long break from it.

For Elite either will do but for other games like SC the x55 wins hands down due to having HAL, being able to create curves to joystick movement really helps on a twitchy game like SC.

I thought that. I was so burned-out by the time I hit Baron. But honestly, once I flew it for the first time (well, second time - I hit the edge of the mail slot and nearly destroyed myself the first time!) I was completely satisfied with the effort. Geared up, went bounty-hunting and had a great time of it. :)

Went from a brief spell in a Type 9 to an Annie back in January, so I've had experience with both ships.

I also found the Annie hard to dock at first; although it's not as wide as the Type 9, it's much thicker. In order for the lower structure not to bump the letterbox, you have to enter the slot much higher than you would in a Type 9 (or any other ship). It takes a little getting used to, but given time it will feel like second nature (can't remember the last time I clipped the entrance, and I've been trading heavily since returning from an exploration run so have had plenty of opportunities).

As for exiting, I always use the "click launch then save and exit" technique to effectively teleport outside the station almost instantly; can't remember the last time I actually exited manually! Some players frown on this, I myself think it's a non-issue and the time saved adds considerably to profits over long trade sessions.

Enable Mouse Widget in the options. :)

The pointy bit at the front isn't the middle.
Keep dot near top of slot.
Most of anaconda is below you (and in front)

Cheers gents
Its getting a little easier, after 30 or so docking's last night I managed to get a 50% "contact on entry" ratio, still to embracing to play in open though :D

Finally made Baron!

Man that grind to get to Baron in time was just painful!

Now I have my clipper!

And my first mission was a simple "Deliver food to XYZ". Cool, nice chilled start. Arrive at destination. "Docking request denied. Your ships arse is too fat". Or some such. Why give me a mission if I can't land there? WTF?

Sigh, never mind, am entirely elited out at moment. Need a break from it.

Seems it's bugged. I had the same thing in a Type 7 once; mission to deliver to an outpost. I thought those were meant to be unavailable if you didn't have cargo space or couldn't fit on the pad available. Guess the check for the latter is a bit broken, but it never used to give them to me.

On the other hand, welcome to the Clipper club. Now you're stylish. :D

Interior of the ships is awesome. Changed my hid to blue. Orange just seemed wrong.

Love the sound it makes when boosting. Just wish they changed all fsd/engine sounds to give each ship a more unique all round experience

spec me a set up for around £1k

Dear all

Can someone spec me a total set up for about £1k , I need everything,

Base Unit
Monitor
Keyboard mouse
Joystick
OS

Can it be done for that cost and run smoothly a 1920x1080 ?

If you're not planning on going for the more high end sticks, definitely! Not going to spec you however, as I'm on my phone :p

You'd probably get a better response if you created a thread in general hardware and call it "spec me an Elite Dangerous rig".

It would help if you could choose which joystick you want before creating the thread, so those responding can budget accordingly.
