How is it ludicrous?

It serves to penalise the casual players which can't login as often as FD deems necessary, so all that time spent building faction rep is eroded for no other reason than a clumsy mechanic presumably introduced to encourage people to play. I'm not sure why this would reflect the reality side of the sim either but hey, different strokes...

Lubicrous is a bit strong a word, but if you work for someone for ages, they trust you, if you disappear for a while they might want to know why and your rep slips, makes perfect sense to me..

I played this at launch for about 30 days straight, loved the flight mechanics and combat but got quickly bored of being a space trucker. Given I have zero desire to play multi player, have they added much single player content at all? Before ,I found it incredibly hard to gain faction rep and do anything other than hauling.

Exactly, its also not even close to eroding all the time spent either, as already stated, it will only erode to friendly or unfriendly. My empire rep finally dropped to friendly last night, who wants to take bets on how much effort it takes to raise it back to allied?

Also, I can't stand stand the idea that once I have max rep with a faction the only way of lowering it is to actively attack it, I'd really like to see it applied to minor factions too, seems really odd that I am allied with anybody aligned with the federation, friendly sure, allied? No.

I have zero interest in gaining Faction through the contrived and extremely buggy Missions system or just Trading but it's easy enough to gain Faction Reputation by dumping Exploration Data to a Faction Controlled Outpost/Station's Universal Cartography thing.

I did try the Federal Navy/Empire Missions just for the Permits but they just seemed to bug out and I kept getting the same Mission I'd already done so was unable to progress at all so I gave up on that pretty quickly.

Wait a minute, uhmm are you saying that if i dont play the game (ie doing real life stuff) then when i am offline faction rep will decay?

I thought it decays when i am INGAME but just not helping them? (which makes perfect sense and i agree with btw)

Because if its the former then thats all kinds of bs i'm afriad :(

Its fair enough it decaying when i am playing but not doing anything to increase rep but ffs game shouldnt penalise you for not playing the game :(

Well tbh I havent read the ins and outs of it, or infact any of the manual stuff, but...

What if you are allied with a faction and they get their asses kicked, that'd change your situation if you were playing or not correct? Given that the game changes things as factions and powers change surely its only fair that the things that relate to that also change, regardless of you playing....

Sure the faction power and status can change but its relationship to you should still be the same. Think its too harsh. Has there been a similar thing in other mmos? e.g. eve? Havent played them enough. Maybe this is very common.

Ok, took me about 90 minutes maximum of running missions to regain Allied status, if this is seriously an issue for anybody then I'm calling them a drama queen for making a mountain out of a molehill :p even if you only do one mission a week your rep is going to stay intact as far as I can tell considering it took since 1.3 launched for it to decay that far.

Made a bit of as Rookie error but didn't notice and thankfully it didn't cost me anything. managed to spec up my new Viper with higher power requirements than the reactor could handle when my Hardpoints were deployed. Oops.

All fixed now though!

Anyone found any overcharged or funky weapons yet?
I'm still pottering around with gimble multicannons and turretted multicannons atm.,..

I would stay clear of Turrets unless you are in a python or bigger.
Energy Weaps (Lasers) to bring down shields, MC are great for hull / powerplants.

Gimballed are decent - Fixed would improve your game if practised with them.

I take it you know you can set Cargo Hatch / FSD / Docking computer (if you use it) - Basically any non-required item to a lower priority in the modules window?

So when you deploy hardpoints, your FSD/Interdictor etc all power down.

All my ships run about 113% power with no issues :)

Picked this project up gain. WIP seat for E: D / SC etc.

HOTAS to be mounted on the side pods. Base, headrest and rudder pedal mounting system still to build. Eventually this will be used in conjunction with a VR headset

Right, so it took you 90 mins playing time to get back to where you were and you are ok with that?

Its clear we don't agree and thats ok with me, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'd understand if your rep got worse whilst you were doing nothing that helped your faction in-game but out-of-game I just don't get, this is a space sim, not a real life one. I can't think of any other game that does this.

<s>

BTW That is a wicked seat ThereIsOnlyOne.

You actually need to ask? Of course I am, 90 minutes versus about 4 weeks of ignoring the empire. JUst because it's a space sim doesn't mean it should not try to simulate some aspects of life. I cannot imagine how dull it would be without it. The last thing I want is to end up in a situation where I am allied to everyone and my only option to change it is by becoming a criminal, that is the ludicrous suggestion.

Obviously the game is not to your liking, more of this sort of thing is likely to be added rather than not, perhaps it's time to move on?

Given that its an online game that evolves and changes, I think its perfectly acceptible for things to change while you are offline, the game still does things online, as do other players while you are offline...

I do and they already were. My Reactor just wasn't up to it but it's since been replaced and running well. :)

Think I've found my new favorite passtime, flying into resource collection zones, looking for wanted people and shooting them, as long as you dont bounce off of an asteroid its pretty profitable...
