*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I believe you can still find them in USS which negates the need for an interdictor and negates fines for interdicting a clean target (if they are), it's also worth holding fire for a short while too as sometimes they will open fire first giving you freedom to finish them without penalty.
Oh, yeah, yeah - You do still find them in USSes, especially when you have a number of targets (Pirates, Traders, Authority, Civvy, etc).
I'm just finding the single named targets are also now appearing in Cruise, where they were only at USSes before.

ANd you can happily return to the system, you just need to be aware that you will be wanted and be ready to deal with the consequences.
Yeah, you can... but as you said, every git will be out for a piece of you.
It's more of a concern for me, as I'm getting jumped by seriously high NPCs in scary ships, now and always wings of 4+!

I really believe the NPC level is tied to your own ranking, now, as most of what interdicts me these days is Dangerous or above. I no longer get the Mostly Harmless idiots trying to pick on me... *maybe* because what I currently fly will melt them with just a single 3-second blast on the Weps!! :D

Yeah I tend to just use the turrets while trying to get decent bead with the other guns tbh, they can be plugging away at sheilds for me while I'm flying about..

Have seen this on Steam for £26.79, can anyone confirm if it's worth a punt?

I think if you have a stick and like a game that doesn't hold your hand, absolutely. It's a great game, but after about 100hrs I felt I had gotten everything I could out of it. That's still a lot of play time though!

It'll be interesting to see what the announcement being made about the game in August is. I suspect it'll be the first of the paid for expansions. I doubt planetary landing will make it along quite this early.

In answer to mysticsniper's question, its absolutely worth it but you need to be prepared to make your own story and reasons to play within the game. The original Elite was very much a game of the imagination (it had to be with those vector graphics) and the new game very much follows on from that.

100 hours; that'll do nicely.
230 hours logged since I enabled logging, probably closer to 350 hours so far

Trig - The only benefit of higher rated KWS is more range.
So a D or C rated will do the same job just you need to get closer to the ship to scan.
Also power requirements go through the roof! I use a C rated for example normally :)

Also 4A shields would be a good upgrade

Weapons are what I'd use :)

Managed to pick up a mission yesterday, kill a guy in a certain system, yeah not a problem, fly around, find the guy, Anaconda, ok no biggy, interdict, bang, fined, turns out the guy is Federal something or other, get 2 other ships drop in in short order and start attacking me, managed to kill him and his friends, but bloody hell it was close..

After this I ditched my extra armour and banged in an auto repair thing and then a basic discovery scanner in the spare hole.
Also rejigged by weapons a bit, got a few turretted multicannons as I like the auto targetting and then some normal gimbled multi's for the smaller hardpoints..

Popped over to Abe Lincoln, did a few small missions and now back over at iBootis as there seems to be better missions out that way, need to build up my funds again so I can get some more weapon upgrades...

For the love of God ditch the turreted weapons. You're not flying a bloody battleship, you're flying an all rounder that has excellent pitch ability. Turreted weapons are by comparison two classes lower in damage than a fixed gun of the same class, and one lower than a gimballed. Use gimbals on the outer wing slots to allow you to aim and fixed in the middle to maximise your DPS. There's no way of altering convergence, so you need to bodge it.

Forget the auto repair thing as well, it doesn't fix your hull, powerplant or canopy - which are pretty critical elements. It's meant to be taken out by explorers who have no chance of getting a repair at a station rather than as a combat utility. As someone's already said bin it all off and get shield cell banks in place set to a low priority if you're short on power. Shields are far more important for a combat ship.

so trying to rankup my empire, i had a rank up mission, with 8 minutes left... easy i thought.. but kept on being interdicted.... I'm runny a trade conda atm, with no weapons..

I ran each of the 4 times i got pulled and to to station only for me to fail mission as i was through the toast rack and deploying my landing gear :(

think i'm going to put some weapons on!

Cheers chap, I'll take a look later..
No Warrant scanner tho?!

Warrant scanners in my experience are a waste of time unless you're sat on the territorial borders. I currently have about 500k's worth of claimable bounties sat on my left hand panel that I'm unlikely to ever claim since I can't be bothered to track down the individual factions that issued the bounty found by the KWS. I'd rather be spending time chasing the next (local) target rather than burning time and fuel cashing in.
