Personally not for me. I had the Corvette but couldn't get on with it. I don't know if they have buffed it since I last owned one but I find the Conda far superior all round.

Still in the top 10 of the Explosives CG. Delivered 36,000 tonnes so far and enjoying it. In the Mobius group and great to see so many commanders about :)

Thinking of returning to this any decent sweet fx profiles to use now as i only had a 970 last time i played and it struggled at 3440x1440p now have a 1080 would love to play this again..

Is sidewinder good enough until i can get an asp explorere or what ship should i get after sidewinder?

Good God no, get out of the Sidewinder ASAP. At the least, get a hauler, but the cobra makes for a good in between ship on the way to an asp.

Gregster did you not find the hardpoints better placed? I would kill to have more of my big hardpoints on top instead of way back on the underside of my ship. For combat the corvette does seem to be the best tank ship. Not great against small ships that are organised, but certainly very dangerous in a 1vs1 situation.

It was the hardpoints that I struggled with. I like to run 3/4 lasers and cannons but couldn't seem to get on with any setup on the Corvette. Each to their own though and whilst I wasn't keen on it, I know others are so might well suit others fighting styles.

That's what's putting me off getting one until I can afford to have it And my anaconda. Just makes life so much easier when you don't have to jump a million times to get anywhere

Got back from a four day exploration jaunt this morning, did some rep building then promptly set off on another voyage.

This time I'm heading out in the 'general' direction of the edge of the galaxy. After 2000+ light years from Sol, I might have finally slipped the tourist trail as I've managed to jump more than two systems without someone else having already discovered it. :D

I can only imagine how bored the long distance runners to Jacques Station must be these days. The direct routes there must be thoroughly covered with claim tags by now.

I'm 5k ly out from the bubble return from Jaques.. and i am bored... but I've been getting through it with the help of Netflix, I've practically watched all seasons of DS9.

Not at all just head above or under the galactic plain a few thousand light years and you will find treasure :)

I feel your pain... I'm about 14k light years from Jaques now and the bubble is getting larger on the horizon :) I've been watching videos from my subscriptions on YouTube but now resorting to watching TV episodes as well.

Finding it tougher to find interesting things to explore now though, I've been helping to map Neutron stars for the neutron highway project which will hopefully allow those pilots willing to take risk in the coming 2.2 update a quicker way to travel to Jaques.

Closer to the core there were loads of Neutrons to scan but now they are few and far between and several hundred light years apart.

If you want to contribute to the neutron highway project please take a look here -

So actually got into my first Cobra last night. Thing is we go to Portugal tomorrow so won't be able to fly it for at least a fortnight!

When I get back, what's a good place to set up a home bar for grinding Empire? I'm basing my ship purchases OK the most important stats, what looks cool, and I want all the imperial ships :D

I was thinking about getting a ship at Jaques and it just being a flying FSD machine, and work my way off somewhere else, theres no decent kit at Jacques tho sooo...

What happens if I buy a crap ship at Jaques, die, then start off with the Sidewinder at wherever it is I leave at Jaques before I buy my new ship, wheres that go?

I'm in the middle of Denton patreus space in asphodel. It's reasonably accessible to most places, but really I'm only based there because that's where I bought my anaconda and because it has a reasonable stock of modules and hardpoints. Generally speaking, any empire aligned power's territory is a good place to start gaining rep in the empire. You could always do rare runs in your cobra if you fancy it. You could probably make more money in a res though.

Really enjoying Grade 5 dirty drive upgrades from Palin (shame it's such a ball ache to unlock him). My FDL is now doing 530 at boost and turns like a viper. My courier is up to 790m/s on boost! Conda and Cutter next.
