*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

FFS, now wanted, some asshat in a security ship flew through my fire as I was lighting up a WANTED guy..
Now I'm the wanted guy, managed to get out of the extraction point and then got scanned on the way into the station...

If you only land one shot just skip to a neighbouring system, wait until the time expires and then go back and remember to pay the fine.

Nice to see an exploration CG out there. Nice change, although the usual "bring A to B" stuff is still there.

Stuck 2 rail guns on my asp (had 4 multis and 2 med beams on there and swapped 2 multis out) and its pretty good! Gets a bit toasty but quite manageable. There's a low res right next to the CG so it is nice to take a wee break from scanning there

And here's me still rolling around in a crippled ASP, made the mistake of selling all my long range stuff to drop weight while in Jaques now cant buy anything decent to replace them with lol
You should be able to store modules as well as ships imho, not that I'm biased...

Ah I see. I didn't realise there was a needed-space difference between

I am thinking of getting one for ED. Would you suggest the Vive or Oculus? My room is fairly large tbh

You get the hand controllers with the Vive, so if you have the room, probably better to go with that. The screen door effect is supposedly better on the Rift though, so if it is pure image quality you want, maybe that is better and Rift controllers coming October.

Yep just stopped being laxy and Google'd 'Vive vs Rift ED' and image quality came up a lot

It's also cheaper

Just fetched an Oculus Rift today from a john lewis in Nottingham, anything i should know? Downloading the software now and main use will likely be Elite Dangerous.

I Cant wait to get strapped in and have a play :)

If you take into account the expected costs for the CV1 handsets, there's virtually nothing in it.

The pros and cons appear to be:
- CV1 is generally considered to have slightly better visuals and SDE
- CV1 is supposedly lighter and move comfortable
- Vive has roomspace and is better enabled for it. So for example, it also has a significantly longer connection cable, which is rather useful when you're moving around
- Vive has handsets right now. CV1 to be launched
- CV1 is cheaper if you don't need the handsets. I play mainly sims (ED, ACS and DCS). So the handsets really don't appeal as I already have a HOTAS. Saves me some of the cost for my HOTAS
- CV1 looks like it's getting something fairly similar to roomspace, but I'd be surprised if it's quite as good, as the Vive was designed for it and for example, has another sensor camera
- Vive is directly linked to Steam. That "might" influence compatibility with games over time. Oculus has facebook backing, though I can't see that making much difference

Above all, do you have the physical space and want Roomspace?

Personally I have a very small physical location, so the decision was dead easy for me.

Touch is apparently going to include another sensor as part of purchasing the handsets.

this federation grind is getting a bit tiresome, I'm currently delivering boom data between sothis and ceos, I just delivered 20 missions and only got 2% increase, I'm currently warrant officer, and at 88% towards next rank.anyone know anywhere better.
