Q3 confirmed then

Wonder what the new weapons will be like? I like the sound of it and will be interesting to see how they go it about it the players creating them… my guess. CG's to get the parts then they get issued via Outfitting. Don't think they'll use Engineers as new players will left pretty stuffed. Regardless, guess I better start saving up cash in case as I sense me getting blown up rather regularly in the future!… :)

I have plenty of money and several ships and really looking forward to it. They have dragged it out a bit for sure but I still love the game. Hopefully, the hype is real with the Thargoids and it brings a new level of gameplay, as I know there is a lot of people a bit bored with the grind and it would be nice to keep them playing.

New weapons! I'm still grinding eng upgrades on my current ones. I (and I would imagine the majority of players who have grinded engineers) will be gutted if these are on a par performance-wise with existing ones with engineer upgrades, Frontier will have to take care in balancing these.

On a side note, anyone had ED really lag lately? Transitioning between SRV and ship / hyperspace jumps take a LONG time, menu options after docking in a station take an age to update, scanning a system doesn't return a message about new bodies found for minutes. I thought this might be temporary but I've been having this for a couple of weeks now.

Nah, it will just be more grind and more of the same complaints from the same people...

I've been getting that periodically for months.
Usually it's when BT forget they're supposed to be supplying me with internet of some kind, so I always just assume it's their fault.

Anyone know a reliable set of circumstances which allows the farming of aberrant shield pattern analysis for 'the sarge'. Scanning elite level federaL gunships works but they are like hens teeth.

I have given a name to my pain, and that name is Modified Embedded Firmware (MEF).

I thought I'd take a break from Empire ranking at Wu Guinagi and take the plunge on getting some MEF (thank the gods it isn't Modified Unified Firmware), because after all, who DOESN'T want large overcharged multi cannons with effects on their ship? Cu

TL;DR MEF is a PITA, these G5 upgrades better be worth it

Fyi there is an app which you can download from the frontier forum which is specifically for data search and mining. I run it on my laptop, you can filter by data and base type, it then shows you a route map not only through the galaxy (base to base) but for the actual bases and scan points themselves. It shows you the optimal Srv route

Plumb in your current system location, select data type (mef, CIf etc.) , base size and sec
Level then generate the route list.

For MEF I use medium size bases with no security, the hit rate is one in four. Large bases with no security are fine and drop rate is higher but they take quite a bit of practise to get right.

Thanks Besty :). I ran into this a couple of days after my post whilst researching MEF, pretty useful and a great example of the community stepping up. I'm working my way down the list of large bases with medium security but frustratingly I'm still but a pawn at the mercy of the rng gods. I might give the medium size bases a go as well though.

Yep! No idea personally why I love this game but I don't actually mind the grind. I find it such a relaxing game, I don't mind putting the time in and a break now and then helps. It would be sweet to get things like planetary landings and they will come but in the meantime, I am quite content in what I am doing.

I'm tempted to sell my Corvette and build a long range explorer based on a 'Conda and go wondering in a general direction for a while...

Probably because you're not grinding...
Everyone is in such a rush to get the best ship, the highest Eng upgrades, the most money, and to reach Elite in all four classes.
The original game was unique because it took time. Other contemporaries gave you 3 lives and it was about the highest score you could get in those three short lives...
In this modern age of people completing 300-hour-long games in less than 20 minutes, Elite is still pretty unique.

Yer, the insta

An easy fix isn't going to happen in this game and good job I say. Sure the RNG can be a bit frustrating with missions and engineers but feels worthwhile when you complete them.

I had an epiphany when I realised that the grind IS the game. Its the thought of getting the three Elites, a fully engineered ship and King empire rank which keep me coming back to the game, once that is all achieved I hope there will be some other "goals" in the game otherwise my interest might wain. its all about the journey with E:D, not the destination.

Don't get too excited when you hit King rank.
I got it the other week, got the mail in game announcing the promotion and....
It's not animated any more, not even an image in the mail.
Fairly sure the ones below Prince where. Perhaps bug /shrug.

To be honest my expectations are fairly low, when I got Admiral ranking in federation it wasn't exactly fireworks and hookers!
