Yup. Killing people is an illegal activity and will earn you a fine/bounty... unless your target is Wanted in that system as well, which does happen sometimes.
The faction will generally send you one or two jumps away, so you don't get a fine in the originating system in case you feel like basing yourself there.

from lavecon stream a brief summary -

  1. New weaponry (anti-Thargoid focus)
  2. Hull repair limpets (primarily aimed at explorers), repair self or others (Fuel Rats tool?)
  3. Limpet making synthesis recipe (could you continuously mine materials to make limpets to mine materials!?)
  4. Comms panel now has filters for incoming messages (ie unread, urgent, audio logs, missions etc...)
  5. New contacts at stations, search and rescue contact dealing with salvage items
  6. NO MORE SUICIDEWINDER! Not 100% clear on this but seems to be, the rebuy of most expensive ship used during the "crime spree" is added to your rebuy
  7. Pilot's Federation Bounty. Attack a ship with a Pilot's Federation pilot, gain a Pilots Federation bounty. A PR bounty is valid everywhere (except anarchies)

That one's confusing.
Surely the only ship used during the crime spree, would be the sidewinder.
Or are they going to include the largest ship you have in that system? In which case, what's to stop the game saying you were doing something dodgy when you weren't & charging you 30+mill' for your main ship, when your sidey is taken out in normal gameplay?

Will have to head to forums later to find out more about this.

In the current state of the game, you can go on a killingspree in a Cutter, which pretty much makes you invincible. When you're done, you can switch to a Sidewinder, die in that to get your bounties cleared, and all you have to pay is the rebuy for the Sidey which is 2k or something.

With the new system, your rebuy will match the rebuy of the most expensive ship you used during your crimespree. So kill in a Cutter and die in a Sidey, you pay the rebuy of the Cutter.

It was about time they did this imo.

Agree, a good move by Frontier Dev. As for the rest of it, no complaints though perhaps having a separate salvage contact is a bit one to many contacts? They could have been fed into the mission board… but we'll see how it plays.

  • Fixed a Commander Data error that could occur when two players switch to a Fighter at the same time in Multi-Crew
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when in High Intensity Conflict Zones for extended periods of time

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when activating Silent Running in a CQC match
  • Fixed a crash that could occur in the Capital Ship Encounters

  • Audio: Fixed an issue with inbox message alert audio not playing

  • Mission board generation optimisations



Multi-Crew
  • Added the ability for Helm to limit the functionality of the Gunner role if desired (for example, preventing the use of utility style modules or deploying/retracting hardpoints)
  • Added the ability for Helm to disable the Fighter Control role if desired
  • Fix to allow the Helm access to turret mode options when they do not have a Gunner in their Multi-Crew session
  • Multicrew activities that have crew slots available are now highlighted with ‘+’ symbols
  • The 'Switch Roles' button will now be greyed out if your SRV is carrying more cargo than the ship has capacity for



Network
  • General network tweaks and fixes



Outfitting

  • Fixed an issue whereby the Engine Detailing slot did not appear when using the the Detailing filter tab



Player Journal
  • Fixed an issue with NPC names becoming garbled in the Player Journal
  • Faction Pending and Recovery state information is now included in the Player Journal
  • Addressed an issue whereby certain events were missing from the Player Journal
  • New "EngineerContribution" event for making donations to unlock an Engineer

Fixed some visual issues with the Anaconda's cockpit and made some improvements

Moved the camera closer to prevent clipping in livery outfitting

Warning, do NOT go in open, you will get ganked.

I can't get there, damn launcher/install is bugging out as per usual. Every time there's an update, I spend more time fixing files than playing.... Ah well, enjoy.

It's a Thargoid construction and because only a few have been discovered so far there will be CMDR gankers looking for easy kills, go in solo or private group mode unless you want a fight.
