Anyone having problems with PS4 controller bindings?

I just loaded up Elite to find my controller not working at all - All the bindings were removed. Then when I go to rebind the controls, they work and then when I go back into the settings to tweak the controller bindings, they're gone again!

Woah! You can rebind engine/weapon colours!?

Found a solution to this problem - Posting here incase someone from the future has the same issue :p

In DS4Windows there is a checkbox under settings that says "Hide DS4 Controller"
By ticking this, it removes an extra DS4 controller under your devices window - The issue was apparently because the game was reading two sets of controllers.

After ticking this setting, my bindings are saving again! :D

Fired this up for the first time in ages, got some bounties but been so long had no idea what trades plus the station was on lockdown, what's that all about?

Do fixed weapons force you to become a better pilot? I don't want to engineer my gimballed multi cannons only to decide to replace them with fixed and have to re-engineer them. I am average combat pilot (at most) and running gimbals feels a bit "lazy", I'm tempted to take the plunge and change to fixed now. What are people's thoughts?

If you're flying a small, fast ship, then fixed weapons do more damage and you have the manoeuvrability to bring them to bear.
If you have a larger, slower ship, then you're not going to win any dogfights against the likes of a Vulture and any half-decent pilot in the latter will make mincemeat of you. Gimballed weapons in this case make more sense, as you have more time on target and can make use of the bigger weapon classs your ship can take.
For the really big ships, turrets are probably the better bet, not only as a single pilot up against little fighters, but for Multicrew modes so your Gunner can actually earn their keep.

Being a good pilot in any ship is more about understanding angles, distances, manoeuvrability, position and the like. It's more turning in anticipation to keep your weapons on target, more than just precision control. You work to gain position, so you don't have to use fine control.

You can always store your weapons, that way if you change your mind, you can just swap them over again.
Another advantage, if lazy, you can get them shipped from the station you stored them at over to where you are now, at a small cost & time in transit.

This popped up on the FD forums half an hour ago, absolutely superb to see what a well fitted and piloted sidewinder can do :)
