I know, I should do more mining again ..

On another note, I don't have a specific ship for cargo hauling

Been reading up on cost and cargo space

OK, so I don't have enough for the big ships, but I'm tempted to buy another python and use that

Looked at a type 7 but the python isn't far off cargo space, also its a better capable ship, M size landing pads, and a lot of other things, surely that's worth it over a type 7 ?

Python is a good shout, it's what I used for hauling if I didn't want to go to an Anaconda or Type 9, far more fun to fly.

i have a python, thats my multi-role

i use that for mining, bit of combat, i use it for material gathering and some hauling (64 slots)

but i dont want to take anything off this one, its got everything exactly how i want it (and its engineered mostly)

I did fly a type 7 for a bit. Mainly used it to haul enough in a CG to get a type 9. I don't think it's a long term ship, after I got the type 9 sorted I couldn't think of a use for the 7, so I sold it - if you are restricted to L pads, you might as well go big. I think I've read that some people use the 7 as an exploration ship, but I might be miss-remembering that. It doesn't feel like I've missed out on any trade opportunities by only using L-pad capable ships for hauling, but then I'm not looking for anything else.

My Pythons are single role - one mining, one for burning station rescues. Of course, there's nothing to stop you using a Python for hauling to raise cash and then reconfiguring it for something else.

Ditto on the whole Guardian thing and also I suppose I should look into the faction-specific modules too.

the way those missions work is (imo) unrealistic and a bit lame. ideally you want to wing up and do them and that way you get a multiplier on the payment.
In elite dangerous world of you order 10 tons of bricks if they come via 1 lorry and 2 journeys you are fine but if they come in 2 lorries at once you must pay double.

I get it. for what ever reason FD are trying to push multiplayer, however far better imo to up the payments significantly on the wing missions but add a time bonus (which means it's profitable solo still but equally you get some encouragement to wing up)

TLDR if you are solo you will make far more cash in other ways

Put it like that and it almost makes sense!

I don't bother with the straight hauling wing missions - they are way too much effort solo for the reward.

The "bring x tons of y" wing missions can sometimes work out (when you have Allied rep) as the volumes are lower and it then becomes only a matter of whether there's a cheap source nearby. Often the profit will be minimal when solo, but every now and again it's not bad.
