*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Hmmm , was doubtfull when considering buying it , even if u want single player ... you have to connect to their online servers ... and tonight they appear to be borked :-(

Running around in my Cobra, but I've decided I need a new goal to work towards. So I'm looking towards a new ship and I'm thinking about aiming for a Imperial Courier.

The problem is I'm in Federal space and have no rank at all with the Empire.
Can anyone recommend an area that's good for Empire rep?

Also I really need to get into trading, I'm doing it every now and then, but my profits are pretty lows. Can anyone give some hints or link a good easy to understand guide?

If you have the cash and want to rank quickly try Tamar. Charity missions only at that station you can buy your way to glory. I delivered two sacks of grain to become a Viscount....what gives Frontier? :D

On the long grind to Elite trader, currently on 23% Tycoon. I probably could have been faster getting there but decided to hang around the old worlds for nostalgias sake.

Recently ditched my asp ( think I bought it too soon, couldn't really afford to outfit it as I wanted) and went to a vulture - now having much fun cashing decent bounties on the "assassinate the pirate king x" missions and in resource sites.

Good little ship, I'm enjoying it

To raise your Empire rep you need to do jobs out of a station controlled by an Empire minor faction (this can include trading); since you're looking at doing more trading anyway, why not head to Imperial space and take advantage of one of the highly lucrative Imperial Slave <-> Palladium/Gold trade routes? Just make sure the stations on both ends are controlled by Imperial minor factions and you will be raking in the rep and credits in no time!

If you're really stuck on where to start then let me know and I'll see if I can't help out; off the top of my head Orang is Imperial controlled and has a large supply of very cheap Imperial Slaves, so you might want to start there.

I just have no clue what to do at the moment.... I want to do some powerplay stuff... don't know where to start!
Probably best to start by deciding which power you want to pledge to, take a look at the benefits offered by each; generally you will have to decide whether you want to earn merits through combat or trading, so make sure the power you chose fits with your playstyle.

Im getting hacked off now, I seriously want to stay immersed in this game, but nothing is grabbing me about it. The powerplay mechanics are making it a little steep for me to get into and to make any reasonable credit seems to take ages.... (of course its all about the grind...)....

Are rank progression missions still borked? I've been doing Federal missions for ages now, hopping to new planets and running missions for the minor Fed factions, but still nothing has presented itself.

The thresholds for progression have been raised significantly. Also you get faster ranking now by carrying out combat missions rather than the charity types - as one would expect for Navy ranks.

Last time i played i was just doing smuggling missions since they were the only ones i knew how to do and were easy cash/short runs with minimal risk.

Sadly these didn't seem to effect any rankings trader/exploration/combat, and no statistics were save in any of the menu's to say i had actually done anything in the game lol. Did get about 3 million credits though got bored after that as i can't seem to kill anything, even an newbie sidewinder takes about 20 minutes to kill with a lot of chasing around!

Did they do any content updates recently to add anything new, preferably that doesn't revolve around combat.
