*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I just went to a hazardous site that had three wanted cobras attacking an unwanted hauler. I hightailed it out of there in my little eagle.

My ship just got attacked and destroyed by a cop. Don't know why and i did not know how to eject so I was destroyed also:(

You must have been wanted for some reason, illegal cargo, firing upon innocent bystanders, there is no eject button, the game automatically does it and drops you to the insurance screen.

Quite enjoying Powerplay now that I understand it a bit better. Sided with Zachary Hudson and just spent a good hour or so out in a Security Operations and managed to bag 350 merits for it. Shame the servers are now having issues, as I was really enjoying that :(

There is a self-destruct button which is effectively the same thing, but now that you can "reboot" to repair modules and call on the Fuel Rats for refuelling there's no real need for it.

There's also no point using it in combat which is what FredFlint was wanting it for, destruction is assured so might as well carry on 'till the bitter end :)

Can you explain how it works, or what there is to enjoy? I did not get it :o

I am however enjoying bounty hunting again. Lots of Fer-de-lance and Anacondas to kill. Can once again make 1 million+ easily per hour having fun :D

Thinking of firing this back up again, what with planetary landings coming soon.

Where are you making coin like this, just any old res, at conflict zones?

I know almost nothing about PP - except (and I may be wrong) that it forces you to play more frequently to meet targets/cash-in. Can you confirm please?

Is it worth firing it up again, after all that? I got a Vulture with 24m+, and although enjoyable - it was an awful lot of the same-old, same-old.

Can't remember from the top of my head, but something like high intensity res. What I am finding in my res is they now crash into asteroids. I am shooting them and find they take themselves out crashing for me. Happened like 4-5 times, so entertaining to see. Lol.

Not done anything else really, k-warrant scan, pop'em and collect 100-250k per kill :D

I got about same amount of credits as you, vulture mostly maxed out.

Can I ask a simple question please. Been a eliter for around 2 months and never fired a weapon yet except training modules. I have a asp which is mostly a class, specked for rare runs. I have 2 medium gimballed beam lasers and going to get 4 small multi cannons and start some killing. What is the best way to start? Seen some bulletin missions for around 50k rewards, will these be easy or do I need to start with something smaller value? What's the best way to be eased in gently? I'm in diso area. Do I need to join a faction?
Thanks.

Go find a resource extraction site, not a hazardous one though and scan ships, if they say wanted shoot them. Make sure that you pay attention to check that they are in a wing or not as the entire wing will target you once you start shooting, and fit a kill warrant scanner if you want a bit of extra bounty.

In the beta I sided with one of the females (can't remember off the top of my head) and I didn't really know what was what. I spunked around 80 million on getting 10,000 merits to reach the max.

Now this time, I sided with Zach and he is more of a combat orientated type of guy, so I have managed to get over 2,200 with collecting and delivering merits and flying to security operations and taking out the enemy and managed to do this in the space of 8 hours ish. There is bonuses for this as well and additional weapons. It does need a bit of work and it won't appeal to everyone but it is a step in the right direction.

Only had an hour of play in 1.4, but my home system became a Hazardous Res area and I spent that hour blowing the living whatsits out of everything. NPC Anacondas should now be known as 'pool cues' since they'll ram you at the slightest opportunity. I'm also seeing a big step up in the AI defense, they'll pop SCB's when running low on shields to help top them up. Not that it makes much difference to me, I have a huge PA strapped to my FDL which pops any damaged shields quickly enough. I can see many people having to adapt their load outs to deal more alpha damage.

Great fun though if you can survive in the Haz Res, it's a licence to print money!

Not a good night last night. In my continuing efforts to increase my Fed rank I took an assassination mission worth circa £250k, knowing it would be a challenge. I found the target in a Python in supercruise and dropped him out....along with another two (I think Pythons) in his wing. I say "think" because I didn't really have long enough to ID them after opening fire on my target before they pummelled my fully kitted out Vulture into oblivion. 1.3 million down in insurance and a soon to be failed mission later, I logged.

One thing to ask opinion on - running a gimballed class 3 beam and a gimballed class 3 cannon... but the cannon seems to miss quite easily, even when locked on. Is a class 2 multicannon a better option or stick with the cannon and just enagage at close range?

FA off in CQC isn't going to make that much of a difference, came third in my first match with FA on at all times.
I use it sporadically, mainly to pop tighter turns. Seems to work well for me, as I've come top in more of my matches than anywhere else.

Sounds like a fun weekend ahead...!

I always used 2 x Pulse lasers on the Vulture.

But Plasma Acc's have a faster projectile than canons.
If using canons you need to be very close.

For Assassination missions, grab 2 x Plasma Accelerators (maybe some heatsinks) and get in close, take them out ASAP and run.
Ammo is not an issue when doing missions.

I also just run two pulse lasers on my Vulture, seems to chew through pretty much anything fast enough. Picked up a couple of smuggling missions last night, dropped into target system and had security direct messaging me within moments, they followed me to the first drop off outpost and managed to scan and fine me just as I was landing. Then I got interdicted on my way to the second and lost, man they've really changed that mini game , so two missions, two fines, the payout more than covered the fines but it was interesting to see what used to be easy to do with no security issues suddenly become a bit lively :)
