Plan to get back into this when Horizons releases. Need another joystick for it. What do people think of the X55 Rhino and the X52 and the X52 pro (the ones ocuk are selling)

I cant wait to try it with either the Vive or the Oculus around january ish :D

I love my X55, I've heard there are some build quality issues plaguing earlier models but buying new you should be fine. If you're on Win10 make sure you use the Win10 drivers because there are compatibility issues with the Win8 drivers on Win10.

I can't wait for consumer VR to come out either!

I have the X52Pro combined with an old set of Simped Vario Pro rudder pedals and TrackIR which works great for me, I borrowed a friends DK2 a while back and can only say that it was absolutely amazing at being able to put you quite literally in the cockpit, the sense of scale was (forgive the pun!) immense!!! Text was difficult to read but editing the UI colours helped a lot and using the Galaxy map required making sure controls were set for it, typing is an issue if you cannot touch type. I am very eager to see what the Vive and CV1 are like but doubt I'll get one myself for the simple fact that I seriously doubt my pc is capable of pushing Horizons are anywhere near the fps required for decent VR.

Whats your graphics card? Anything with a GTX980 upwards should have a rather spiffy experience with the consumer version VR i reckon

Just a lowly 760, I just can't see them being able to maintain such high frame rates on planet surfaces given how they look, I will of course be very happy to proven wrong :)

Yeah you might be struggling a bit there :D Decided to get the X52 Pro. (win7) I used to have the basic thrustmaster t flight hotas which is good as a starter hotas but wanted something a bit meatier.

Oh gods yes, no way I expect my 760 to be up to the task yes :) I'd happily splash on a 980Ti but am waiting to see reviews and reports before making the jump :)

I own an X52 and X52 pro and an X55

Get an X52 pro, best of the trio

My trusty X52 is plenty, not sure what the benefit of the pro is?

Only thing I'm missing out on is not quite having enough buttons for all the functions I regularly use, if I can figure out how the multi-function switch works I might be able to solve that :)

Also a fan of the X52 and does what I need, although I am on my second one and the first didn't last a year and wasn't even using it when it failed but bought another as I knew what was what with it.

Also I just did my first wings at a HRES and man that was mental. I can normally sit there for a couple of hours picking off Conda's and Pythons before having to head back to get ammo/shield cell banks recharged but used up 3 cells in around 10 mins :D Eneny at me from everywhere lol.

Edward uploaded the raw footage for us today, looks even better without the stutter due to the stream not coping :)

Just watched the recorded live stream for an hour! Impressive stuff and coming from an original BBC player going down to the surface and in such detail is amazing.

They have to get a way for players to help build bases or settlements. How cool would it be if you joined a settlement on a moon and traded for the good of the settlement so it can get stronger and bigger. Even better if you can pool credits and pay for systems like Defence platforms and secondary emergency and repair systems. We all bang on about Elite being a bit sterile and empty, well let the players build the content as we explore further and further out.

I like this. I like all of this.

Had me a real strop on earlier.... Playing Open play with a well kitted out Conda, I got a player interdiction and before I could even spin around, I had 4 in a wing ripping me to shreds. 18.5 Mil later, I am in a proper huff  :D

All good fun though.

Would be great to see some temporal blending to avoid that nasty LOD popping but overall it's a very impressive demo. The procedural landscape is very well done!

Watch the stream version and listen to the comments, they made it absolutely clear that this is not the finished product and that they are very much working on just that.

you weren't in one of the smuggling systems? I went to vesuvit in a python and TOC were around, who interdicted me and destroyed me on site..the gave me a 10 second warning to leave the system before the interdicted me...

This is another quick-and-dirty unedited video capture from Horizons on a dev machine (the same GTX 770 as before). It was taken on a rocky moon (somewhere between Earth and Mars in size). Adam is driving this SRV, Eddie the other one. A few things still need work – the display to the right (‘mass lock’ etc) is still to be changed, some audio and visual effects are missing, eg buggy texturing and motion-blur on the tyres are not working, and Eddie’s SRV was not showing on the scanner in this build. The point is it is still in development, but it is already great fun to drive.

Sorry about the abrupt cut at the end, but something came into view shortly after this, that we’re not showing yet…

Nah, just some PvP action. Part of the game and something I accept but that really did hurt lol.

Well after the last couple of vids and now this one, it made me get my wallet out and pre-order. Looking fantastic.
