*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

Just got my second ship, Eagle is it? outfitted with a multi cannon and rail gun, kill warrant scanner, the interdiction thingmabob, reinforced alloy and a few other bits.

Having a hard time making money though, done a few delivery mission with slaves, seems to earn a fair bit from it, by they are few and far between.

My trade rank is peddler, i want to hunt for bad guys but have no idea how to use the scanner, still getting used to the controls and joystick (FLY5).

Any hints/tips would be awesome!

When you are in supercrusie, choose one of the contacts and hold onto them and it will show if they are good or bad, if they come up as "Wanted", interdict them. I found some of the bounty hunting missions can be quite profitable with little effort.

Cheers Greg,

So do i just supercruise around a system and check all contacts? do i need to accept a mission or can i just recce about, kill wanted guys and get paid there and then?

Such an awesome game though, hours just seem to disappear every time i play.

They can be exceedingly lucrative, the last one I did was to deliver slaves for the Empresses coronation, I did a single run in my Python netting me a loss of 15k and change as I bought them for far too much, went back to bounty hunting and a day later the goal was complete and I was in the top 85% and got a 15 million payout :D

I find it better to just do the bulletin board missions. The friendlier you are with that system, the more options become available as well. Some will be tougher than others and some will be a doddle and you will learn what one's are best to do. I got paid 1.2mil for smullgling some slaves 3 jumps in one system and there are more profitable one's than that.

Finally made Dangerous this morning, now I need to do some trading to get my trade rank up to par with my exploration and combat ranks, I'm conveniently forgetting that my CQC rank is still on the first level lol...

so what's best outfit for my cobra to go into warzones?

i'm currently using G1 burst laser and F2 multi cannons.

Thinking about picking this up, What's this like to pick up for a beginner, Eve style learning curve or can you jump in and go?

Is a joystick required to get the most out of this?

Pretty much a hard learning curve when you start and a joystick is preferable over a 360 pad and a KB+M is very tough. Plenty of info out there for new comers on what to do and how to get started. My total advice is play the practice missions from the launcher to learn how to control your ships.

Is there a way to know how to get to Dangerous? Just simply keep destroying ships?

I ran my Cobra with two lasers and two multi's when I was using it, no idea how well it would work in a combat zone as I've never been in one with a Cobra, make sure you have enough for insurance and try it :)

Got any flight sim experience? That helps a lot, if not the learning curve is going to be fairly steep. Also you need to know that Horizons is due for release in the next couple of months and you will need to purchase that as well as the base game if you want the content it brings, if you wait for Horizons you will get both for the price of Horizons.

Wait till Horizons drops in a few weeks as you get the base game with it. Otherwise you’d buy the game and need the expansion or season pass. Sad thing is I backed the game early on KS and got my copy even got the code for it to put it on steam but have not played it yet. A killer to a original Elite player but I simply don’t have a PC just now able to play games. That will change later or early next year. So I feel I have been a bit hard done by by backing the game as I now need to buy Horizons as well. Not that I did not enjoy backing the game but as I've never run my copy so I wish it was only a £10 upgrade for me.

Think the base game is £29.99

Horizons with Base game £39.99 ;)

As for Joysticks the Saitek X52 Pro Flight Simulator Controller seems to be the weapon of choice.

Got enough money (just shy of 4mil) currently saving up for a vulture

P.s. Whoop already in the top 70% for community goal in LT874

From what I understood with the beta it was 2 clients, one for practice one for mp, Is this still the case?

Might be worth waiting then, just got the itch earlier to pick it up to play till F4 drops, probably get F4 out of the way then get this.

My boss bought one specifically for Elite and I was impressed with the response when I tested it.

There is a separate client for the combat training modules to the main game, the main game then has options for Training (a different set of training for stuff like docking, jumping and stuff), Solo (just you), Open (you and everybody else playing in open) , Private Group (you and only those also in the group) and CQC (basically quake in spaceships) play.

I fully expect it to get at least one more sale before Horizons, it was £17.99 not long ago, my money is on something similar next week for Halloween.

No complaints with mine, I do have pedals and trackIR too though :)

Congrats. I played the CQC a good chunk in the beta but not touched it since :(
